After spending a week at grandma & grandpas house we boarded the OVERsold airplane to start the 3 hour trek home.
Amazingly the seat next to me was open, but they didnt tell me before so I didnt take our car seat on the plane. I was holding my DS.
My DH was sitting in the seat in front of me holding our DD.

We taxiied out to the runway and as we were preparing to take off I layed the baby down to nurse. My arm was starting to get tired so I tried to put the arm rest down but it wouldnt go, I tried again. Next thing I know my DS was screaming bloody murder and there was blood, alot, coming from somewhre!

I had accidently smashed his finger in the armrest! He was screaming, blood was flowing. A pediatrician was on the flight and came and looked at it. He thought we would need stitches so they turned our plane around and took us back to the gate where the paramedics met us and took us to the hospital.

He ended up with 4 stitches. I felt like the WORST mom ever!! Here I am tring to do a good thing, nursing my baby, and instead Im injuring him! then I felt bad for the people on the plane who were listening to him scream bloody murder while we tried to get the bleeding under control, not to mention we delayed the whole plane.

Now our luggage, car seats/stroller still went home and we are staying one more day at grandma & grandpas until we can try to fly home again tonight. IM WORRIED! The flight is oversold again, we couldnt even buy another seat so we dont have to do the lap infant thing.

I hope it goes smooth and that we dont have anymore injuries!

I hope the second flight goes better. Don't beat yourself up over it, I could have totally seen myself accidentally doing something like that.

I'm the one who posted a few weeks ago when I cut the end of my DDs thumb off while clipping her nails, so things like this happen. It rips your heart out, but your baby forgave you immediately. I'm so sorry!!!

I'm so sorry for the traumatic airplane experience!! Those planes are so darn crowded - it is so hard to get into a good nursing position, don't beat yourself up over it - it could happen to anyone!! I hope your DS and you are feeling better and that your flight home is very, very uneventful!!!

We nearly cut the tip of dd #3's pinky off when she was one yo and it got shut in the bathroom door. I remember the awful feeling, and that was without being on a plane. So sorry this happened to you. The best thing you can do is let it go. As everyone else said, accidents happen.

Yikes. You will all come out of it fine and he won't even remember it.
Poor Mama and Baby though.

Just wait until he is jumping the coffee table with flaming hula hoop attached in a few years. The number of stitches only gets higher.

Hang in there. I think we have all had an instant where we accidentally injured our little ones. I know I have.
