Has anyone used any travel car seat carriers?

We travel a lot but recently have been renting our own planes.
I would like to buy ones that I can have the girls sit in while the car seats are mounted to the car seat carrier.
But I need ones that hold full sized forward facing car seats. That are durable, and aren't very big or are collapsible. As they both need to fit in the small compartment of a four seater plane.

Any experience with Travel car seat carriers would be great.

    Thanks, and happy holidays

I have the Cheeky Monkey back pac and I am very happy with it. We have used it for a couple plane trips. I was also looking at the GoGo kidz taravelmate, but decided against that due to price and still needing the stroller at the time.
The downside to the backpac is the wide back load you have. You have to be careful not to hit anyone, but that should not be to much of a problem if you flying yourself and don't have to wait in line to board the plane.

I've only flown once, but I used the GogoKidz and loved it. (I was flying solo with just one twin.) The only downside was that it was pricey. But since I was visiting my parents and they have a stroller, I didn't need to bring one, and it was so wonderful to be able to "stroller" Sarah through the airport in that thing. She also loved it -- it was like an amusement park ride to her.

From other user reviews, I think the GogoKidz is pretty durable. People do seem to have occasional issues with the wheels popping off. (They're quick-release -- though I actually found it very hard to get them off!) Even if the wheel pops off, you can just pop it back on as long as you keep track of the little button that holds the wheel on -- if you lose that, you're totally hosed.

It is also basically flat (except for the wheels), so it's pretty small and lightweight.

I assume you're planning to remove the carseat from the carrier when you're actually riding in the plane? You can, theoretically, buckle the whole setup (with carrier still attached) into a standard airline carseat, but it's a tight fit. (Plus, the wheels tilt the seat forward so that the child is basically sitting bolt upright.) So you'll probably want to take the carrier off before putting the carseat on the plane.

HTH -- let me know if there's anything else I can tell you.

Is the gogokids thing really tall? Looking at the picks it seems like the handle dosen't slide down?

    Thanks
