Transitioning to One Nap

We are doing this now...I read that they will grow into taking one very long nap (2-3 hours). Today is our first day and they slept about 1 1/2 hours. Do they really start growing into the long nap?

How did you go about doing the transition? Sorry if this has been asked before. The boys just turned 14 months.

 

Wow, 1.5 for the first day is great. I think it took mine about a week to really settle into the 3-4 hour nap. First few days, we were lucky to get an hour. Also had to play around a bit with the time. Initially, started very early [10:30] and gradually moved naptime later [12:45] -- that transition took a couple of months. Good luck!

 

We are going through the same thing..14 months must be the age!

Mine woke around 6:30 ish, Lilly refused to take a nap at 9:30, and woke Owen because of her screaming, so he had a very short morning nap.

I put them down at 1:00, and they've been sleeping an 1.5 hours so far. I'll let you know how it turns out.

But like the pp said, it seems like you would just gradually move nap time up, and put them to bed just a little earlier on those days when you think they need a little extra sleep.

 

Mine took a couple of weeks to adjust and now sleep from noonish til about 2:30-3. Somedays less somedays more. I love it because now if I have errands to do we can go in the morning and no one is crabby.
