I am sure this has been asked many times but my computer has been acting up lately and I can't find some of the older posts. Sorry!

Our girls are 17 months old. We decided that today was THE day that we would transition them to one nap per day. Here was our schedule:

    6:45am - wake up, bottle
    8:15am - breakfast
    10:15am - snack
    11:30am - lunch
    12:15pm - nap (1 slept for 1 hour; 1 slept for 2 hours)
    2:30pm - snack
    5:00pm - dinner
    6:30pm - bottle
    6:40pm - bed

It actually worked out really well for our first day. We had a playdate scheduled for them this morning which I think really helped them forget about their first nap. We are doing the same tomorrow.

It seems odd that I am asking this even though our first day went well but I am a planner! I was wondering if there was any more advice or tips on making this a smooth transition (just in case it doesn't work this well for the next few days)!

    Thanks in advance.

No advice from me since that is close to our schedule. I just wanted to tell you that when we went to one nap, it took about 2 weeks for our girls to really get used to the one nap thing. Now, it's working great for us!

It took about a month for mine to transition. We had to gradually change the time of the nap as they got used to the new schedule. I also found out that they needed about 30 minutes of playtime after lunch to run off their food high before putting them to sleep! HTH :)

I tried to take mine to the park or someplace exciting like a playdate when we were transitioning to keep them up until it was time for their nap. But, there were still days (every 3rd or 4th) when they were just too exhausted and needed two naps. It took about 3-4 weeks for them to stop needing those "catch-up" days. And since I never really knew which days they were going to just fall apart by 10am, it was kind of hard to schedule much more than going to the park or some place we could quickly retreat from. In that way, it was frustrating, but overall as long as I was able to more-or-less go with the flow, it was fine.

It sounds like you're doing great! If you find that you're having a hard time keeping them awake until naptime, you can move nap earlier. Also, their one nap will gradually get longer as they get used to the new schedule. But as long as things are working well, stick with what you're doing!
