    Good luck that, LOL!

My SIL used to put a big floor pillow outside my nephew's door and sit there reading or working on her computer to keep him in his room during naptime. Personally, I'd probably keep them in the crib longer if they just won't stay put. 2 1/2 has been sort of the magic age for my kids. Even if they could climb out of the crib it wasn't usually an easy thing to do before then. So if they were put down when they were tired, it wasn't necessarily worth the effort. It's so much easier to get out of a toddler bed. At 2 1/2, they understand a lot more, are starting to get that there are consequences for things and such. Thankfully, Spencer (my last) has been the easiest napper, ever. I can lay him down, sing a song and walk out of the room and he'll go to sleep. Well, most of the time. There are those occasional days when the full moon bewitches all children, or something. But for the vast majority of the time, he's easy. But I don't think it would have been nearly so easy this time last year (your LO's age) if he could have easily climbed out of bed. He just got a toddler bed this week. He's been climbing out of his other for awhile, but I am noticing that he's up and about in the mornings probably 1/2 hour earlier now... just easier to haul himself out of that little bed.

I moved my girls at 19 months to single beds so it's possible. Bedtime wasn't much of an issue but naps more or less stopped :(. If they got out at night we just went in and put them back in bed and said "time for sleeping". Also, I got one of the doorknob baby proof things so even if they get out of bed they can't leave their room so they are safe :). GL!

I mentioned in another thread about my DD going to a toddler bed at 19 months. Oddly enough, she had no problem at night time to stay in bed but we did have a problem at nap time. I used to sit there at nap time and quietly put her back in bed.
We continually reminded her that she was in a big girl bed that she had to stay in bed when it was sleepy time.

Let me know when you figure it out. The girls have been I. toddler beds for a couple of weeks, and nap time is a disaster. Even if I stay in the room, they're up and running around. Nights are great though; it's very easy to get them to bed and when they wake in the night, a short cuddle works to get them to crawl back in. The only way they nap right now is if they fall asleep in the car and I carry them up to bed. They can't turn knobs yet, but we'll soon be getting a knob guard soon.
