I'm not nearly prepared for it either! I'll just deal when it's time, I don't think it's worth getting worked up about until it's actually "time" kwim? Keep them in cribs as long as you can! :)

Why do you only have six months to transfer them? Are you expecting again and need the crib? If not, leave them in the cribs as long as you can. All three of my boys were 3 before we switched to beds, and it went very smoothly. When I switched Hayden and Brady, I kept one crib up in their room for a couple nights and told them if they didn't stay in bed, they would have to go back to sleeping in the crib. We never had a single problem.

Also, as an alternative to leaving the water run, you might want to run a fan or some type of background noise machine for the kids. DH got used to sleeping with a fan running to drown out noise in his college dorm, and 20 years later, we still have it on every night.

We plan to keep our guys in cribs as long as possible. I see no reason to move them to a bed just based on their age. Right now they both love their cribs, so I am not going to change things until there is a reason to.

Also try a sound machine or a fan for the noise.....our guys have had "white" noise ever since they were infants and it does help them sleep (and drowns out the cat meowing!)
