I have not begun yet but was thinking of the how's. For instance, DH says we should train DS standing to eliminate the step of learning to sit, then learning to stand. Is it messier to stand from the start?

Also, if I train him to stand, will DD be confused, he sits, but you stand?

Another question, anyone do one twin at a time or is that just more work.. For instance, DD seems more ready than DS.

I trained both at the same time. I taught DS to sit, and he learned to push his wee-wee down. My DH wanted to teach him to stand, but I think that would be confusing for both DD and DS. DS wouldn't even reach inside the bowl if he stood anyway. Also, DH said train him in the shower so that he knows to stand. . I thought that would just add to MORE confusion. So sitting seemed to be the logical thing to do until DS is tall enough to pee standing in front of the bowl.

I have had good luck with potty training the together. It has been a good experience for all. DD still has the urge to go hide in the closet and poop in her underwear, but I keep and eye on her. ;) . She is learning that the poo goes in the bowl ONLY. I am hoping that the more she poos in the bowl, the more she will want to.

I say try it with both of them. Make it a joint effort. They both go to the potty one right after the other. One can learn from the other. They can see the rewards the other gets for leaving something in the bowl. It just encourages them all the more. I used those mini-M&M's. They loved them, but now we are candy free.

    good luck

We did ours separately because my son was not ready at the time my daughter was. She was a breeze to potty train, and Ben celebrated along with us all when she had successful potty trips. Ben trained 6 mos later. He just grabbed the potty seat one day, sat and went. That was training in our house in a nutshell. Since he sat, that is how we continued to train him. He has been trained for a month now, but still has resisted our encouragement to try urinating while standing. Since he goes so well, and can go totally independently, I have no desire to rock the boat. I am sure he will stand when he is ready.

Ditto, here. It seems easier...less messy.

The best advice I received was to PT them separately. That helped relieve some of the stress. Now that they are finally getting it, my DS peer pressures my DD into potting.

I trained at the same time. Josh was very interested and "trained" before Lindsay. She wanted NO part of it. then one day she decided she wanted to use the potty and now she goes all the time. Ds has accidents once in a while. They wear pull-ups to bed but DD has been dry since she started using the potty back in Nov. I had 2 potty seats and a potty ring. They just seem to "get it" when they are ready! Good LUCK!

I am so glad I found this forum! I am gonna start my B/G twins this month. They turn two and are coming to tell me when they go potty. So hopefully it's not too soon. I think I'm gonna do both sitting too. I did see aUrinal for toddlers at Wal-Mart. It starts out for 18 month olds and will gwo with your child. LOL I thought that was kinda neat too.

We are training together, and they both sit. Seemed less confusing this way, both because it might be hard if one stood and one sat, but also teaching a boy to stand to pee and sit to poop. Sometimes I don't think he knows which he's about to do, or does them both together. During the early stages DH even sat to pee if Elliot went into the bathroom with him (good sport!)

We've made a lot of progress, but I have no idea how to make the big jump to undies. I think they are ready and can do it (they do for short periods at home) but they have no interest in wearing them to day care (their teacher even suggested they try it!)
