How much do you pick up during the day?
I am looking around the house....
The living room has toys scattered all around it.
The kitchen has tupperware all over the floor.
The hallway has blocks from one end to the other.
    The boys room....well, a disaster.

Was sitting here thinking I could go pick a lot of it up, but then I thought about what a complete waste of time that would be. May as well leave it all till bedtime, but then of course I feel guilty for leaving it such a mess.

What do you guys do? Do you pick up toys through out the day or just leave it all till the end of the day?

I pick up once a week - on Sunday nights after they are in bed. They don't really mess it up during the week as they are at daycare all day and pretty much in their high chair or room other than that. So, I let them destroy it all weekend, and then I pick everything up so it looks decent during the week. I pick up their room (all the books torn off the shelves, etc.) on Sundays when I put away their clothes. I feel your pain though. It's like living in Fisher Price plastic hell.

my girls play in the living room and their bedroom (we are one floor). all the doors inbetween are closed, and the kitchen is gated off. soooo, the living and their bedroom is covered in toys during hte day, but before dinner dh and i pick everything up and put it away. 2 reasons: i'm trying to teach them it's important to put things away, and 2) i'm scared if i leave someting out in the night a spider will crawl into it and scare them teh next morning

p.s. i open their toy box in their room and leave it open all day. in the living room, i take out certain toys each day, and just leave those out all day, too. (of course, the bedroom toys migrate into the living room, but they go back at the end of the day... )

I dont remember the 15 month age very well. I guess they are not old enough to begin helping clean up, or understand the concept. .

I would try to pick things up as they are done or when they lose interest and move on to something else. I would definitely have to pick up the blocks, b/c I would probably break my foot on one of them. ;) If there is a mess spread out all over the house, I would try to pick it up or at least limit the mess.

I hate toys everywhere! It stresses me out. At 18 months we started teaching the girls how to help clean up. If we play in the living room, we put all the toys away before we move to the den. The den is the main play area so we pick them up each night after bath before bedtime stories. Before the girls started helping out, I would pick up their toys each night after they went to bed.

They only play in one room in our house (the living room). I only pick up once a week to vacuum or if I know someone is coming over. I'm not the best housekeeper though.

Oh it stresses me out beyond words...even one toy on the floor stresses me out LOL

I guess we pick up certain things throughout the day. If they drag out the mega blocks, clippos, or dump the v-tech train, that stuff gets picked up when they are done with it. Same goes for the stuff in the kitchen. Other than that we usually leave it until bedtime. Sometimes it will get to me or DH and we will pick up in the middle of the day or at nap time. It really is a complete waste of time though.

I should so take a picture of their playroom right now!! All their toys were put away last night and I went in after not checking on them for 20 minutes and EVERY toy was out of EVERY bin and all over the floor. Both Aly and Jake were sitting in empty bins... not playing with the toys but the empty bins. :gah:
Back to pumping I go :)
