Toys in crib?

We are finally going to put each twin in their own room this weekend - as I'm tired of both of them waking up when 1 cries. My only concern is that they watch each other from their prospective cribs in the morning, and keep themselves amused for awhile (otherwise we'd be up at 5:30 am). I'm wondering if it would be safe to leave a toy or 2 in their crib - to keep them entertained in the morning. Obviously nothing plush that could cause suffocation! Anybody have any suggestions of how to get them to amuse themselves? Any favourite toys?

I do. You could try that crib keyboard that straps to the crib.

I use to wait until they went to sleep and then would sneak in and stick some books in their bed, so when they woke up they could "read" and they would for a LONG time! They loved it!

I agree with the little board books. I keep them in the cribs. Good luck with the move! Hopefully everyone will get some more sleep!

ours both have a mirror tied to the side of the crib and both have a small "lovey" stuffed animal. i like the idea about the book too. DS is just now pulling himself up, but not trying to climb. if he does, we will have to take out the mirror i think. my sister had one of those little aquariums in her crib that played music too, and my nephew knew how to turn it on/off and would look at it for hours!

We had one of those little activity mirrors with the grabby things on it in each crib. They loved it. They loved looking at themselves and grabbing at the little ring. We kept them in there for the longest time. This is what we had:

We have that in one of the cribs too! The girls love it.

We have butterflies above my DD's crib and hot air balloons above my DS's crib they can see both from their cribs and this works so far (a fan in their room makes them move). We haven't put any real toys in there as of yet.

Thanks for the great ideas! I'm going to try the board books tonight. Unfortunately - mine like chewing on them more than reading them - but at least they'll be entertained!

We have that mirror in each of their cribs as well, along iwth a small stuffed animal and their bunnies that they cuddle with before they go to bed. I like the board book idea, good one!
