toys for traveling

We will be moving from Ohio to South Dakota on Dec 1. This will be a 2 day trip.
I'm wanting to get the babies a couple of new toys for the car and am looking for some good suggestions! I've bought a couple new books here and there and will save those for the trip too.

 

Travel magnadoodles and travel see n says worked well for our last car trip while on vacation.

 

my girls' favorite toy on any road trip is their socks. ardon: we usually just keep a bucket of toys handy that they haven't seen in a while & if at any point they seem to be getting bored, we hand them something new. it seemed to me that it was the rotation that was key more than a specific toy. GL!

 

I second the rotation - having something new is nice but when we went on 5 hr drive a couple of weeks ago we were just constantly giving them something new to play with when they got bored. Also snacks, sippy cups that sort of fun stuff helps too.

 

I remember driving with my mom and she attempted to give them their new purses early. I jumped. NO ! So they had a nap and then about 45 mins from our destination they started .... NOW give them their purses.... worked great. So wait for the good whinning. Also kids CDs are handy. Hand puppets would be a gem (by your passenger not the driver) Or funny hats (adult and child)..... food such as pancakes are great and less mess, cream cheese (a ton) inbetween crackers left in fridge over night to soften. Bread pressed flat then a non-staining spread then rolled like a cigar -- should get two per slice.
