toys for almost 7 month olds

The ladies are getting bored with their toys. Now that they are more mobile they spend most of their day on the floor on a blanket with toys around them. We rotate their toys so they don't get bored, but I feel like they need an exersaucer or a walker or something that allows them to be upright. Meara will sit and play with toys but I feel like I have to be right there in case she topples (she can sit for about 5 minutes at a time, but if she gets particularly interested in a toy, she topples over). Ana will sit in the boppy (upright) for a little while, but I also feel like I need to be right there. Meara won't sit in the bouncy chair, and arches her back in the bumbo now. We have a jumper thing that goes over the the doorway, but we don't have any molding on our doors yet, so we can't use it. Neither girl likes the swing anymore.

So what toys did your kiddos like at around 6-9 months? I've been looking at walkers (yeah I know the AAP doesn't recommend them, but we live in a ranch and I wouldn't leave them unattended) and exersaucers. Any recommendations? I want to go shopping this week. Thanks! -Leighann

Mine like their exersaucer and jumparoo, but we don't spend any more than an hour a day combined, in them. Their favorite "toy" right now is the tag on the boppy pillow....seriously! I've put cheerios in a little plastic rubbermaid container and the love to shake that. Also, they love to play with a small plastic cup. I don't think they really care as long as it's something new. I too try to rotate their toys so its more fun. Fabric books are a hit also. And then they have a shape sorter, with all the parts in a bin, and I'll throw other stuff in their, and they love to make a mess taking everything out of the plastic bin, or just dumping it over.

I look forward to other responses.....

My boys love the Rainforest jumper. But I can't leave them in it long. They both end up with red little toes. My boys also really enjoy the Fischer Price Animal Train. As for walker, I have the push behind one by VTech that has a barn Yard theme toy attached to the front. My Boys LOVE the Electronic Toy on the front of the walker. Thankfully the toy comes off and I can place it on the floor. Hunter uses the walker here and there, but we have to slow the thing down or he'll fall.

They also LOVE the wooden alphabet blocks my mother bought them.

Jonas LOVES the jumperoo...the stand alone type(likes the exersaucer), and Lucas LOVES the exersaucer. We do that for about 30 minutes a day (I know they get some time in the exersaucer at daycare too). They love the tags on all their toys. They love these little rubber (I think) balls I bought them at Target too(the ones the sell in the big bin). They lick them, hold them, roll them and then go rolling after them.

They also enjoy these alphabet block things I bought(again at Target) that have the letters of the alphabet and then a little thing inside of it that starts with that letter (they giggle around or make noise) and the block has these ridge things that they love to chew on. They particularly like it if I stack them up and they topple them down.

Carley loves the walker - Natalie not so keen. I just bought Sesame street Elmo stand up thing. It plays the alphabet, body parts, has a toy phone - which they love - It's a big hit. My girls are standing though. I swear they'll be walking by 9 mos. Before they were pulling themselves up - they liked the plastic bowls, anything that made noice when shook. I love the idea of cheerios in a plastic container. Plastic water bottles are a hit too. - I take the cap off and pull the paper label off too. I also live by Baby Einstein videos. My girls really love them and it gives me 20 minutes to get some stuff done. I sit them in swings / walker and they are happy to watch. Good Luck!

oh - also - most of the "stand up" toys that sing play music have buttons to puch etc. Have removable legs so you can put it on the floor. Those are great as you can add the legs as they start sitting up better and standing! I think most of those have removeable legs. I went to Toys R Us this weekend and they had tons of different ones!

Mine love books - especially touch and feel books. They love those little tables here.

They also started to like balls and cups.
