    I guess with Christmas fast approaching I started wondering how many of you buy 2 of everything always, sometimes or never?

    My DS are at an age where it doesn't matter what the other one has, the other one wants it. Even if we have a duplicate, they want the one in their brother's hand! So what happens as they get older? I'm buying toys for Christmas that are geared a little older than what they need, as they have so much stuff already and really won't get that they have new toys so much. So as I'm buying things for them to play with at 12-18 mos, are they going to want the same thing, or different?

    TIA for you advice!

    I would advise not buying two of everything because that will drive you nuts and break the bank. Eventually they will be old enough to take turns but for now, if one wants what the other has, just keep trying to substitute. It eventually works.

    We told people to just buy one item that the boys can share. MIL is buying a walker and some little things (along with diapers), grandmother is buying a jumperoo, my dad is buy the leap frog learning table, and my mom is buying the fisher price silly town ball playcenter. Between all of our family buying them gifts we just bought the boys each a LeapFrog Dog(Scout), two tigger rockers, and one 3 in 1 little tikes sports center.

    Well, I guess I should clarify - right now I've only been buying one of a toy for the most part. I was ordering a "holiday tickle me elmo", and my family was around and they coudln't believe I was only ordering one. Well, now that I've ordered and recieved two, I'm wondering why!??! More stuff! I think I may give the second one away as a gift. :3:

    I say for the Elmo, go ahead and get two. That is why we bought two LeapFrog Scout dogs, because I don't know how well they will share stuffed animals and other little toys. With the LeapFrog dog you can personalize them from the computer to say your LO's name.

    They might each want an Elmo to snuggle with! :blush:

    See I am the opposite. Two Elmos=twice as a annoying. Sorry, I love elmo because my son does but I hate the elmo dolls :)

    Can you keep the second in the closet and see how they react to it? If they like it so much, whip out the second. If not, regift it.

    Good idea. If you're not sure about giving two, then wait and see if they really like it!

    We only get one of pretty much any toy. The only exception so far is their loveys.

    We're going through this too... we also got the LeapFrog dogs, and got two. We got two of smaller toys, but the rest is one that they will share. I'm wondering as they get older, who gets to open what and will they be ok with having to share? {sigh}

    It depends on the toy. We have 2 of alot of stuff. It will really come into play when they can actually walk up and take the toy away.

    I tend to buy 2 of the things that I think will be fought over. The fewer fights & arguments I have to break up, the better!

    I too tend to buy two of the little things. For Elmo, I would keep one away for a bit and see how they like it. My kids HATE toys that move on their own. We had two remote controlled cars and I wound up giving them both to friends b/c they were scared to death of them. We did just get one of the "Little People" sets (1 airplane, 1 barn, 1 school bus) and they share those really well. They like electronic things a lot but they are learning to share.

    We always bought one toy of each and we're planning to do so for Christmas as well. Two toys of each is a bit costy. Besides, that way the boys will have more variety of toys. .
