Toy Box recommendation

My Mom wants to buy my boys a toy box for Christmas and wants me to let her know what one I want by the end of the month! I have looked at a couple at TRU and was under-impressed (thought they were too plastic-y :). I also looked at one at a specialty store in our town, but thought it was overpriced at $150 (not opposed to paying that, but I want to feel like it's worth it). I looked online at Target and saw some cushion-y type ones. Does anyone have/like these, do they hold up? Lastly, I looked at the One Step Ahead website and they have low-priced ones, but I wonder how flimsy they are. So, I guess I'm looking for quality, durability, and something the boys aren't going to bang their heads off of too badly since I want to put it right in the play room. Thanks for any recommendations of what you like or what you wouldn't recommend.

We have these and love them. We got them when they were 8 months if that, and they've lasted great so far, even with two moves. On a side note, I only put big toys and soft animals/dolls in them, and use smaller bins for toys with parts, I found that they were more likely to play with them that way.

This is the one we purchased from TRU. I like it a lot. It's soft, has saftey hinges so the lid stays open, easy to clean and looks fashionable. I'm hoping to get one in pink for my daughter that's on the way.

I would recommend a wooden box over a soft sided box. We have one we bought when I was pregnant with my oldest son, who is 8.5 yrs old now. It has withstood many insults over the years! It has a stay open hinge so it doesn't fall closed on little fingers, it has air holes on the side and front in case it does get closed, it's a slick/laminated type material that is easy to clean inside and out. It's white with winnie the pooh decorations on it and it still looks like new.

I wouldn't recommend anything that has a snap together design, or one that slides together. We have had a couple of outdoor storage items with that design and they never ever stay together, they constantly fall apart.

Added bonus of something nice and sturdy is it can be used to sit on, we've used it at birthday parties before. Downfall, can be used to climb on too! lol!

We have THIS one and I love it:) We used to have a bench where this sits now to put on our shoes so we use this to sit on and it doesn't look out of place in our living room:) Has all the hinges and everything like the other toy boxes as well:)
My only complaint is its not very big but I'm also not very good at rotating toys around either!

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm looking at all of them.
Izak&Aaden's_mommy -- I like the look of your toy box, but how sturdy is it? Do your LOs climb on it and if they do, does it support them sufficiently?

We have the Step 2 one. It is plastic, but very durable and holds a lot. It has a slide front so there is no way a child could get stuck inside of it, and also has a shelf for books. It doesn't blend in with furniture decor, but imo in a playroom it is completely acceptable to have bright primary colors

I would say that it's pretty sturdy! I'm 8 months pregnant and use it to sit on during their play times sometimes !!! I'm really happy with it!
