Tough Day

Yesterday morning just after breakfast, a nurse came in my room and says, "Your OB just called and you are NPO (No eating or drinking) until your MFM sees your ultrasound from yesterday." Um.....no, my babies are not done! All I could think about was how I had just hit 30 weeks but I knew that we were not ready. As she was telling me this, I could feel my little monkies wrestling in my belly.

Long story short, my OB saw the absent indiastolic flow on the u/s that my MFM admitted me for 3 weeks ago. MFM was fine with it and does not see that alone as a reason to deliver. It took a few hours to sort out the whole thing and I was rewarded for my good behavior with a regular Pepsi (it's so nice to get those little rewards every now and then!).

So my girls stuck it through another day and we keep growing! On another note, we also got a NICU tour yesterday and it was very comoforting to me (scared the pants of DH). There was a little girl in there not much bigger than my smallest girl and she was doing quite well and was extremely squirmy (just like my Aurora). I know if they were born today, they would be in great hands here and all would be OK eventually, but we're just going to lie low and stay cooking for a few more weeks. ;)

Thanks again to everyone for the prayers. They're working! :yahoo:

    Danielle,

I am so glad they everything turned out ok. I am sure it was very reassuring to see the NICU. I have a good friend who delivered her little girl Oct. 2 at 31 w 6 d. Her little girl was only in the NICU for 12 days. They used they same NICU that we will use if we need it. It is very reassuring to me to hear her stories about how great they are there!

I am on Day 11 in the hospital so I can totally relate! Hang in there!

That would be scary, but it sounds like you have a wonderful positive attitude and strength throughout it all. Keep up the good work, Mama! Way to keep those babies cookin'!

Thanks ladies. Just wanted to add that I highly suggest the NICU tour if it's available at your hospital. Especially if you are already on hospital bed rest. We didn't know that they did it until our nurse asked us yesterday if we had been. She arranged it after our little scare and it was really calming for me to see and get to ask all my questions.

    Happy baby baking!

Oh wow, your post gave me flash backs to when I was in the hospital on bedrest with daily NSTs and BPPs. There were several days when I was one step from delivery! I'm glad you made it another day. You're already ahead of when I delivered. Good job keeping those babies cooking! Btw, I also went on bed rest at 18 weeks for 3 months total (mono/di twins one with IUGR). I spent the last 4 weeks in the hospital and I cried during my NICU tour. You're so strong, your going to be a great mom.

Thanks for all the kind words...we're still cooking! The indiastolic flow was present again on Friday, so that's good. Basically, we're just watching to be certain it doesn't reverse.

The girls are still very active and continue to develop their little personalities. At Friday's BPP u/s, we had seen everything we need with the exception of watching baby B practice to breathe. As we sat there focused in on her tummy, waiting to see the inhale/exhale motion, baby A's little hand came up from the bottom of the screen and pushed her sister in the tummy. She did it twice more and then baby B decided she would cooperate. The u/s tech died laughing. We've decided baby A (Daddy's daughter) is going to be our little one who's up at 5:30 in the morning pryig our eyes open to let us know she's awake. Baby B (my daughter) will be sleeping until noon! :rotflmbo:

    Happy Sunday!
