When did you start using toothpaste? Did your babies like/hate it?

We've only used water so far but I want to try toothpaste, I'm just worried it's going to make things even worse...

Hmmm we started with toothpaste a little after a year I think. We use the training kind that doesn't have flouride. The girls really like it.

We started using toothpaste around 10 months old. We use the Oragel, first stages, Baby. It smells like fruit and our kids love it. Good luck!

We've always used the Orajel toothpaste. First the baby one that came with the finger brush and now the toddler training toothpaste. They love it. They also play with the tube while we brush their teeth. I think that helps as much as the taste. One may like it a little too much all the sudden. He's been sucking on the toothbrush instead of letting me brush his teeth :)

I think we started with it when they had a few teeth -- definitely before a year old. But get the kind without fluoride -- the training toothpaste that everyone else mentioned.

We used the toddler training kind as soon as they had teeth.

We have been using Orajel and then Oral B toddler toothpaste for months now. Rose kept getting some odd rash on her face constantly and I finally figured out that it was the toothpaste. So I switched brands and that brand does it too. As long as I wipe her face really well after brushing she doesn't get a rash. The taste makes them actually not mind brushing too much.

We use Earth's Best and another "natural" brand of toothpaste, both are training versions without fluoride. We've been using them for a long time - since around 7 months, maybe? My dad is a dentist and he said it was good to use it even at that young of an age.

Maybe if you tried letting them taste a tiny bit of the paste on your finger before you put it on the brush, it might help them to not freak out so much? Maybe they will enjoy the flavor and it will make brushing easier? Here's hoping!!

We started using tooth paste at 11 months old. We use the Baby Orajel brand b/c it has no flouride. Oh, I definitely recommend the tooth brush vs. the little brush that goes on your finger, so you don't get bitten!

We use the same stuff and once they get their teeth brushed, they sit and chew on their toothbrushes for the next 10 minutes. They LOVE it and cry when we take them away. :p

The toothpaste actually helped DD... she is super easy and just opens her mouth. It's a real fight with DS all the time though...

Mine love their toothbrushes & toothpaste! We use the Oral B kind that came with 2 toothbrushes. Mine also suck the toothpaste off of their brushes & hate actually having their teeth BRUSHED. It's frustrating, but as long as I get a few swipes in, I count it good.

Has anyone heard of Sensodyne ProNamel for Children? It protects children's teeth from acid erosion

I just started using the training toothpaste about a month ago. I was having such a hard time getting their teeth brushed that I needed to try something else. I read that you don't need to use toothpaste until after 2 years.
