When we first started we used water and a small oral-B toothbrush for their age. Then as they got a little older we used the Jason's All Natural Fluoride Free toothpaste for practice. Once they hit two we now use a low fluoride toothpaste at least once a day.

A small soft bristle toothbrush and low fluoride toothpaste. The oral-B training toothpaste is great to use. Since they don't know how to spit only use a small amount to minimize the amount that they may swallow. Also, don't forget to floss! Atleast once a day if not possible every other or every few days.

I have never heard about flossing a baby's teeth. :pardon: That is interesting. I know that if I put my fingers in their mouths now, I would lose finger

We use an Oral B baby training toothbrush and toothpaste. Ours would never let us brush their teeth, so they do it on their own. We are not flossing yet, mine would take a finger off!

I started with the training toothpaste and a little brush around 9 months old.

Only if possible...wouldn't want to risk losing a finger  I am a Dental Hygiene major, took one year of the program, still have another year to go. Taking a break until my lil ones get a bit older. It is always best to start flossing as soon as they have two teeth side by side. Their dental care is just as important as ours. What is most common in infants is "baby bottle tooth decay" and Cavities. It is always important to have their first dental visit as soon as 12 months of age. I have been taking my DS since he was 12 months and every 6 months for a cleaning. ( I have cleaned his teeth myself in our clinic :D ) For less than 3 yrs of age, a full prophylaxis (cleaning) isn't performed, only polishing and flossing. Also, Fluoride is applied to the teeth every six months to prevent cavities.
