How much do/did your 3-month olds sleep?

We don't really have a schedule yet but basically we are on a 2.5-3 hour schedule of eat, play and sleep. They usually take a nap in between every feed. Sometimes it is a 20 minute nap, sometimes it is a full hour. We haven't started a bedtime yet so they don't actually go to bed until 11:30pm at night and they sleep between 5-7hrs per night.

I think we are very good at reading their signs so we play with them when they are awake and let them sleep when we read the signs that they are tired.

At that age I remember they slept whenever, wherever. I just made sure they were in the crib for bedtime. I didn't add real structure unitl about 5 months.

At 3 months, ours were napping after every 2 hours of awake time for anywhere from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours. We put them to bed for the night at 7-7:30pm. They were sleeping through the night (10-12 hours straight) at 3 months due to a bedtime routine we started at around 2 months, although one would sometimes wake once a night for a feeding.

Right about where you are now we started to establish a bedtime routine and were able to scale it back about 1/2 an hour every two weeks or so. They still do a dream feed once or twice a night but at least we are able to reacclaim some 'grownup' time!

Our twins were born on the 26th of October so congrats on them turning 3 months. Our twins go to bed around 9 pm and sleep till around 5 or 6 am every night but they are stating to stay up alot more then they use to. They nap in there chairs and bed time is always in the crib.....

wow TeeandGee, I could have written your post [IMG] Plus our children are only a little younger than yours. We also put them down at night around 11pm~midnight, it's because we're in temporary accommodation and the girls sleep in the living room. I'd love to scale it back once they have their own room so we can have grown up time!

Right now, we are just about at the 3month mark. We are eating every 3-4 hours. I try to keep them awake no longer than 2 hrs. at a time and they are napping anywhere from 45min.-2.5 hours. Any longer than 2.5 hours during the day, I wake them. I've been trying to keep a bedtime routine and generally have them in bed no later than 9pm. They have been waking once/night to eat. They take naps in a pack-n-play in our living room and sleep in the nursery at night, starting any time if they fall asleep after 7:30-8:00pm.

Their bedtime has been getting earlier a little each week on it's own. For the last three nights or so, I've had all four of mine in bed by 8:30pm---- HEAVEN [IMG] I guess a schedule is starting to develop for the babies.

    sagertwins,
how did you omit the middle of the night feed? Our are put to bed around 830-9 and get up around 1-2 and then again around 6. I think Aiden would sleep through the night but since Noah gets up I just feed Aiden so I don't have to get up an hour later.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. It is nice to hear that we aren't the only ones without a schedule yet and that most of your babies also ate, played and slept approximately the same amount of time as our girls. It is also nice to see that there are a few of us with babies around the same age.

We are actually moving the girls into their cribs in their nursery tonight. Then after they are settled in there after a few days we will then start a bedtime around 7pm'ish.
