So I have started feeling guilty that maybe I am not eating healthy enough for the babies. I am taking all my vitamins and I am trying to drink lots of milk and eat my veggies, but I can't resist candy lately! In the first tri, I was too sick to eat now I am eating all of our halloween candy! I also eat junk for breakfast (danishes, cookies etc.). I am thinking of going nuts and going on a health kick. What should I do?

Also, I have been noticing when I talk a lot or for no reason at all I am experiencing shortness of breath and quick breathing. Is this normal? It's not all the time but every now and then. Especially after I tell a long animated story to my dh! :)

I eat crap all the time. And I don't feel guilty about it. I try to build in protein and other stuff, but sometimes it's hard. And halloween is especially hard (but not as hard as xmas, I imagine)

ETA: You probably shouldn't listen to me - I've gained over 50 pounds. But, with my DS I gained 70 and lost 85 by six months PP, so I'm not too worried!

I probably didn't eat as healthy as I could have when I was pregnant. But you are working hard carrying 2 babies, so I think its ok to spoil yourself while you still can!!

When I was preggo I would get short of breath every now and then too. I think it just comes with the territory. But if you are still worried, you can mention it your Dr. and see what they say.

I know what you mean...DH bought all our halloween candy on Sat ( to be nice he bought all my favorit candy, and in mass amounts!). I think I ate a bag on my own in the past 2 days! today I started to collect all the wrappers that I have eaten today, so far a pack of M&Ms and a mini jaw breaker...I have found that looking at my empty candy wrappers has stopped me from grabbing more...Thank god only 2 more days of it in our house, I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL WHEN PREGGY ( I NEVER ate junk prior to being pregnant).

I wouldn't worry about the breathing, I have the same thing, but like PP, ask your Doc. next time you are in.

Yeah, I think it's okay to spoil yourself a little!

What I try to do is to balance out something bad with something better--this morning, I had a couple small cinnamon rolls, but I also had eggs and a big glass of milk.

A lot of times your body will tell you if you've had too much junk or need to balance it--like if you get dizzyish after too much sugar, etc.

I could have been healthier...had a thing for cheetos. Anyway...make sure you're getting plenty of water and then drink more than that, plenty of protein, fruits, and veggies. I think it's all about balance.

I would get out of breath periodically, particulary after 30 weeks...my diaphragm had no where to expand for breathing.

    Good luck!

Thanks you all made me feel better.

Did I mention we (I) bought a huge box of full size candy bars for Halloween. We aren't even going to be home on Wednesday night! :)

    :acute:

I had the same thing with breathing. There were many times I felt like I couldn't catch my breath and had to stop and literally take a deep breath, it's normal with pregnancy, I had the same thing with my first pregnancy as well.

I am not a healthy eater by any means! TRUST ME! If I get a veggie serving in a week that's a good week! Same thing with fruits. Around 32 weeks or so I started to feel really guilty about my eating habits...But in the end...I had two healthy boys. Do what you can and not dwell on it. When we would go out to eat, etc...I would try and get veggies, etc...

The one thing I couldn't get enough of was milk-a gallon every other day!!!

I try to eat healthy - but could do better. I need to eat more veggies, but have never been a huge veggie person. And I'm totally craving sweets!! I have banned some items from the house, and I do try to go for the healthier snack (apple, etc) FIRST and then the candy ;)

I also get short of breath sometimes, but right now it's only after going up steps or a hill.

I've heard in the first trimester the shortness of breath is due to the progesterone levels. Also with a singleton you increase your blood by 50 % and with a twin you increase your blood volume by 100 % so that could account for it. i'm in my third trimester at 34 weeks and sometimes in bed when I roll onto my side (even my left side) I will be short of breath for a short period of time.
