My twins (B/G) have been taking 6 oz bottles for a few weeks now. They're finishing them off almost every single time. Recently, my DS has found his fist and keeps shoving it into his mouth whenever he can...seriously? Does he think he can really get both of them in there? After they have their bottles, we play on the floor for about 45 minutes...during this time, he spits up a lot more than he used to. At first, I thought he was getting too much formula and backed it off to a 4 oz bottle...you would have thought I cut his leg off! He screamed and fussed until I gave him the other 2 ounces. What is this? Could it be that he's making himself sick sticking his fist into his mouth? Could the excess saliva that I've recently noticed be a factor? Is he eating too much? He doesn't seem sick...he just spits up, lets it run down his neck, and smiles like a crazy man...no sick signs at all! Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

ive got a puker as well and it is soooo frustrating!!!! it is pretty constant and like you say generally when on his tummy. but also now that he can roll over he sleeps on his stomach and as a result i have to change his sheets every time he wakes up (they like 4 short naps a day so that is a lot of washing!) is it reflux? i dont know as my other one doesnt do it, nor did my older boy. im not worried as he doesnt mind it and its not affecting his weight gain. he was properly sick once when i started weaning so i know its not actual sick as that was totally different. im just resigned now to constant washing and wiping. maybe give him 10 minutes in a chair after feeding to let it settle a bit better, although it doesnt really make much difference for me! so no advice really, just sympathy!

Mine still puke occasionally when they play.. but yeah mine almost made themselves puke once they started putting fingers in their mouth.

My little Rose will spit up if I put her on the floor after eating. Now, I make sure she sits up right for about 15-20 mins before being on the floor. [They almost immediately roll onto their bellies when placed on the floor..]. I noticed they like to burp a lot when being up on the floor so I like to do tummy before feedings as it eliminates excess gass in their tummies!

If he continues to do it - even while not on the floor - then I'd contact your pedi as it might be reflux.

P.S. The fist thing.. Yeah we get a LOT of that here too. And they gag themselves about 10 times a day.. I keep telling them, "no sweetie, we're not raising balimic [sp] ladies here" - joking of course [thankfully, they don't know what I'm talking about - yet, lol]. I've heard some people refer to the puking as 'happy puking'. The kind that doesn't bother baby at all and just comes up.

I think that is normal. Lots of babies spit up once they start getting more and more mobile or putting things into their mouths. If you notice some pain or arching with the spitting up or maybe not gaining weight the way he should then I would bring it to the attention of the Ped. Sounds like he could just be a "happy spitter."

Is he having tummy time after his feed? Maybe that could be why he´s being sick?

My 2 are the same: fists, fingers anything they can get in their mouths (teething to blame!) so it could well be that it´s causing the gag reflex. Also, it may be that he has some wind in his tummy and that´s causing it. I put my DS down for tummy time pre-feed and he burps like a champ!

As another PP said, try having him sat up for 20 mins+ after his feed and see if that helps.

It could also be reflux as a PP mentioned. My DD´s been tested for reflux as she spits up a lot too and we´re waiting for the results. I rather suspect that she´s just full of bubbles which the scan proved right...

Hope things improve asap for you.
