ds is a horrible sleeper! we did cio and it works with 10-15min of crying but hes thrown up from screaming 3x now so im not too keen on doing it anymore. i dont mind holding him if he goes to sleep, we did cio cuz he was screaming no matter what. he seems more content to let me hold him til he sleeps now. he only goes 3-4 hours at night and his naps are good and bad, depending on what he feels like lol. sometimes when i put him to sleep i have to pick him back up after laying him down 4 or 5 times cuz he startles no matter how gently/slowly i do it. i had a blanket around him tonight cuz its chilly and his arms were snug against him and i laid him down without a flinch. im wondering if a miracle blanket would help him sleep better/longer. he startles alot, while dd rarely does to the point of waking up. he used to hate being swaddled so i stopped, but should i try again and see if he fights it an then falls asleep? i know most people are trying to BREAK the swaddle at this age, but im desperate for sleep!

My advice would be to give it a shot! :good: It can't hurt, and hopefully it will work! My dd was swaddled until she was close to 8 months. Her startle reflex was still there until around that time.

    Good luck!

snug and tug swaddles work good for larger babies!

how about belly sleeping? once DD1 could roll to her belly she slept much better b/c her hands didn't constantly startle up to her face/mouth when she was sleeping

he's only rolled over (from back to tummy) about 6 times, and he hates being on his tummy. i did try the tummy thing earlier when he woke up but he kept fussing. i think once he is older and more mobile he'll sleep better cuz he can get into a position he likes. a few times hes gotten on his side and slept good that way. we'll see!! thanks for all the replies!

I'd give it a try - can't hurt anything and maybe it will get you and your DS some more sleep!

our b/g twins are 8 months old...they sleep finally unswaddled at night, but for their 2 naps, they both still love the miracle blankets, we just leave the legs out (they won't fit in the bag anymore:)

I tried now and then to have them nap without swaddle and they would wake up after 30min and keep themselves awake with hands in mouth (teething) and just moving too much.

so we keep doing it until they will let us know they are done with it.....it was not easy though to get them out of the swaddle for the night, it took a while, but now they enjoy the night sleep without, from 7pm to 6am!

    go for it....
    good luck

When my 2dd was your twins age, I swaddled her with an ADULT SHEET! (yes, she was 27 lbs at that point...)
    Try it!
