so i had a meeting i had to go to today that was about 30 minutes from home. the girls both fell asleep in their car seats on the way home, which is fine, but i noticed when i picked them up that they were both quite warm & the backs/sides of their heads were all sweaty. they were only wearing t-shirts & shorts (no socks) so i thought they would be fine. i'm only concerned because we have a 9 hour road trip coming up at the beginning of june & i don't want them to be overheating during the trip. has anyone else run into this problem & what did you do?

I might consider just putting them in a onesie for your trip and bring a light blanket to drape over them when they nap.I keep the car a little on the cool side to account for the :db: car seat factor :db:

I've noticed the same thing with my girls. Their backs seem to be sweaty. I've removed the head supports to help, but I just try and keep the AC on a higher flow, even if it means that I'm cold because all of our vents are at the front of our car. Good luck driving 9 hours.

I've noticed the same thing here in hot SC. :( I was wondering if it's just the Snugrides or if all carseats are that way.

We also have this problem which is why we are switching to convertables very soon. Our Graco Saferides go to 30 pounds so they would have been fine, but I can't take it anymore. Are yours Graco?

I think it's a problem with the liners on the Gracos.

interesting - we DO have Gracos. well that sucks. maybe i'll try putting them in just a onesie & take a bit of a longer ride sometime this week & see if that does the trick.

I think it can happen in any carseat, my older dd had a britax marathon and she'd be sweaty if we kept the vehicle too warm.

I agree just put a onesie on them and drape a blanket over their legs (if they'll leave it on), and run the a/c a bit higher.

I think it can happen in any carseat as well, although those Gracos are hot! I would dress them a bit cooler and use a blanket if they get chilly, like pp said.

I see you're in Canada, do you have A/C in your car?

I know my two are constantly sweating in their car seats, but that's to be expected in Florida, especially if any ride is less than 30 minutes (how long it takes to totally cool down the car).

haha, I see that most of your replies are from us Florida girls.

we're here in Houston TX so we're HOT too... we have chicco seats and they get hot in them no matter what they wear. thankfully we have backseat AC controls so i crank down their AC.

we do have AC in our car - it may not get Florida hot, but it does get hot here. ;)

Calgary's a pretty dry heat though - i expect in Florida you have all that lovely humidity to deal with as well.

    Humidity Schumidity
When your sunglasses steam up because you walk inside the air conditioned house from your car? Yup, daily occurance between May and October.

I only ask about the A/C because I know that it used to not be standard with Canadian sold cars, had to be upgraded to A/C. One trick that I've learned throughout my 33 years of living in Florida. . .roll all the windows down when you crank your car and for the first few minutes of driving. It gets all of the built up hot air out of your car and makes it easier to cool down.
