We are trying to decide on names. My DH is coming up with some off the wall names... he is a little different! (Gotta love him though!) Anyway, we like the names "Skye and Raine or Rayne". His older daughter's middle name is Storm. See where we are going with this? We want them to be different, but I don't want it to be dumb either! We are not set in stone with any name yet, and we have a long ways to go before we decide. I just thought I would ask someone elses opinion, I really like the names. I just don't want them to be picked on either!
They are a bit out there but not bad. I have known people with both names. My preference though would be Skylar ( in place of Skye) and Rayne ( but pronounced Ray nee)
I like Summer and Skylar or I have a friend named Summer and she named her daughter Daisy so they are Summer and Daisy.
I think Skye and Raine might be a bit much. As a teacher, if they were in my class, I think I would get a good chuckle out of that. Maybe middle names and first names that go with them?
I personally think Skye and Rayne are gorgeous! (DH probably wouldn't have let me do it though...even if I had thought of it...)
I know a woman named Skye. Her family has a strong Scottish history and she was named after the island off the coast of Scotland. Her siblings names are Lauren and Reven.
I knew a family who named three of their kids, Raven, River and Meadow. Kind of different, but it works. I also know a family whose named thier kids, Summer, Autumn, Spring and one more, but I can't remember exactly but I think it is Rayne.
Not too Earthy for me, but I agree that both Raine and Rayne look like Ray Nee to me, which is my friend Lorraine's nickname. I like Skylar and Summer a lot too. I love flower names, and herb names too, like Rosemary, Lavender, Jasmine, etc. Or bird names, Alondra is a pretty Spanish name, it's Skylark in English! So Skylar and Alondra would have the same meaning.
skye and rain... a little too similar for me, especially with storm. You could use them as middle names, but it sounds like yu don't like run of the mill names, so maybe you could think of another earthy name... I like skye, one of my good friends is called this, and i don't think it is an out there name, but when you pair it with rayne, it might get a few sideways glances... maybe... lily summer ebony eve willow  hazel fawn fern While googling some earthy names for you i found a smart aleck post...HILLda, SANDra, DAMmit,RHODA, MUDthra, EARTHA so be aware and carful , people can be cruel...but this is the case too with NORMAL names too i guess (eg charlotte the harlot) and if you do decide to give your twins earthy names, i would make sure they have NORMAL alternatives for middle names, incase they would rather go by that when they get older. Good luck with your choices.
I've always loved Raine. I had 'Raine Soleil' picked out for a girl for the longest time. Skye is pretty, but I agree maybe too much with Raine and Skye together. I like Skylar and Alondra Or maybe Autumn Syke and Alondra Raine I like matchy initial names, but that's just me.
Thanks for all the great ideas. We haven't found out genders for sure yet. Just trying to pick out 2 for each just in case! At my last u/s, by heartrates, there is a good chance for one of each. If we do have one of each, maybe I will combine the two into Skylar Rayn. (dropping the e because of all your good points!) It's different and then again, I do like the idea of Skye and Reven. My husband has a Scottish background and that would be really neat to use those names. I had thought about Raven, but never heard of Reven. Honestly, my first picks were Brianna and Brayden, but my DH doesn't like "B" names. HUH! Such a pain in the rear! LOL! anyway, I will keep you up to date... Thanks again for all the great suggestions.
OOOHHH! I grew up with some kids with names that make Skyler and Rayne seem like common names... try Raincrow, Windspirit, Willow, Ishvi, Leaf, Fawn, Aza, Kishi, Autumn, Kamala, Ayla, Oonagh (OOna), Yannis, Redwood, Seqoia, River, Rainbow, Moonwater, Naja, Niyeema, Niece, Redwing, Osha, Oscar, Odin... And someone I know just named her ,now 18 month old, Ocean! Even if you don't go that far out in left field, even though people, kids, will tease, and they will tease about anything, Having an unusual name certainly has it's benifits. Then again, being a twin (or twins) already puts you in the spotlight. Have Fun!
They sound a little "hippy" to me. Not bad though. I had a friend, Apollo... who had a sister named Saturn
Yeah, I really like the name Reven. I hadn't heard of it before I met dh's boss' family. It helps that he is a great looking guy too. His middle name is Angus (his father's name). I think Skye's middle name is Marie and Lauren's is Alexandra. Reven Angus, Lauren Alexandra and Skye Marie.
I like them both but I don't think I would use them together as first names. I'm not a fan of matchy twin names though.
QUOTE(CandCtwins @ Nov 24 2007, 07:11 PM) How about Summer and Skylar? An old coworker's daughters were named these! Weird. I also went to school with a Stormy. But I like Skye and Raine.
