Okay - so the girls are 22 mos now - and Lyla says "poop" every time (right before) she goes. Sophie did it today too. I got a little potty - but now they think it's a toy. I think Lyla's more ready - but it's hard. I don't know what to do. THey bring it out of the bathroom - how do I do this? Plus, I'm 5 mos pregnant and my back hurts really bad every morning and it's just hard - do I pull their pants down every time they say "potty" or "poop." I heard a friend put her little potty in the living room and had her girl poop in it w/ her diaper and pants on at first - as she got used to it.

Any tips? Should i just wait? I don't know what to do!!!!! I called my pedi and he said it could take a year to train her/them. WHAT???? A freakin' year? UHHHHHH!
    Any advice out there...
    thanks,
    Aimee

I'm waiting until it gets warmer so they can wear dresses and undies.... or maybe just dresses. GL!

Both my girls potty trained in about a month or less (my first dd took 2 weeks), and they were both under two. My oldest was completely trained at 21 months, and the younest dd was completely trained by 23 months. My boys were all trained by 24 months, but bedtime with them is a different story. And one of my ds' has pooping issues still, on occassion.

So, it is definitely doable if you want to take it on. It's totally up to you. You might as well try and see, you can always stop and try again later.

I don't have a lot of advice in this area as I'm not there yet, but I wanted to mention that there's a potty training sub forum in 2-4. I'm sure those ladies would have some great advice for you as well.

I have decided to wait on my almost three year old boy until after the pregnancy. It's just too hard right now to be consistent cause I'm feeling really big and tired alot. Plus he isn't showing the same kinda signs as your girls. My baby is due in July so I have every intention of using the summer to train him.

I have pulled the potty into the living room for some of my other kids. Probably won't with this one since the twins would get into it.

    Good luck.

It doesn't hurt to try and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, then try again later, but definitely worth a shot!! My advice if you want to try is pick a weekend and just go for it. Talk to them about it and let them know that they are going to pee on the potty and wear big girl pants--or however you want to approach it. Get some reward charts and stickers so if they are successful they can put stickers on a chart and see their progress. You can get charts at a parent/teacher store or at Walmart. If they aren't successful, really successful, over the weekend, then back off and try again in a month or two.

Yes, it could take a year, so be prepared. It could also take a month, you just never know. My Allison is completely trained day and night; it took about 4 or 5 months. Sarah on the other hand...started in October with peeing and she still will not poop in the potty...she's a slow one  ..but she's accident free as far as peeing. You just never know. I started with them in June, but they just couldn't do it. It wasn't until October that Sarah finally pee'd, and Allison wouldn't even try again until November.

Anyway, just go for it...you'll never know until you try it!!
