    Hi all,

One of our girls (now 10 mo.) has tongue tight. The tip of the tongue starting showing the (tip of the ) heart shape. Our dr. suggested to wait it out. I havenot asked for 2nd opinion yet and waiting for an in person appt with our Dr.

Please give feedbacks if yours had/has tongue tight, how did your dr determine the severity , and if yours got clipped as infant (age?) etc...

Thanks much for all of the feedbacks!

Hi. My third was tongue tied and he had it fixed at 5 days to help with his feeding (and my nipples) He went in, they took sissors that looked like nail sissors and they just snipped! He hated being held to do it but the cut didn't seem to worry him. Only took a second. I gave him a feed and it was all over. They actually took before and after photos for a paper they were presenting as he had a 'classic tongue tie'. The worst part for me was the worry leading up to it. I was really scared he would get hurt. I have heard after that the earlier it is done, the easier it is. Good luck.

I'm curious about this too. Back at the first appointment the dr mentioned Allie may need her tongue clipped but said he always waits until after two months to do it. Well they're going on 9 months and it's never been brought up again. She has no problem eating so I wonder if it's even necessary??

My DS had his clipped at 3 days. He was having trouble latching onto the breast and losing weight fast so the pedi on duty recommended the procedure. DS was supposed to have the surgery on the second day, but the doctor was unavailable. By the morning of the procedure, the frenulum was nearly torn anyway from my little guy trying so hard to suck. Had we waited we may not have even needed to do it in the first place, but I was trying so hard to exclusively breastfeed that I thought it was our best option at the time.

I would imagine that if feeding is not a concern in your case, maybe the doctor is going to wait and see how your DD's speech develops. I have heard that some children outgrow the condition in the first few years of life. I hope all goes well for you.

Christinam: Our girl 's tongue and lower lip starting to show more than before. We are worry that if we wait, it may take longer for her to recover and she may feel it more, if we need to clip it later. We are planning to check with Ped. dentist too. (still looking for a good Ped. dentist currently.)
