well, i don't know about boys and daddy, but i let my 4 yo dd come into the bathroom when i'm going, even when i'm showing, and sometimes i let her take a bath with me. i also walk around undressed (briefly) in front of her. however, dh stopped being undressed in front of her when she was about 4 mos old. so when our boys are born, i will need to keep a robe handy after a couple of months...

I think that fine. My boys think its funny to watch DH pee! lol...

If it were girls that would be different, but since they are "all guys" then I think thats fine.

I think that would encourage them to emulate him in using the toilet. Forgot to see if you have boys, but I'll assume so :)

I would say if the child is the same sex as the parent then yes it would be fine. But if it was girls watching daddy I would think that would be a little weird to me. I walk around naked if front of my girls (like going from my bedroom to the bathroom for a shower), I also go to the bathroom in front of them. Now my dh stopped that at a very young age since he is a boy. If he is out with them and he really had to go he would sit down on the potty and not stand so they wouldn't think anything of it. Now he will stand and pee when my son is in the bathroom with him since he figures that he will learn from watching him.

I have girls so this really doesn't apply to me. DH has never been naked in front of the girls. He doesn't and never has felt comfortable with that. However, when I have to go to the bathroom when we're out the girls are with me and they've seen all there is to see. The only time that I've made them turn around is if I have my period. I just don't want to have to explain that yet. They've never seen me fully naked though or on top.

Oh goodness, my girls watch Daddy go potty frequently! (Both sitting and standing.) I don't have any problem with it at this age. There's nothing wrong with them seeing that Daddy's equipment is different than Mommy's.... And they find it fascinating.

But I agree, especially with boys and especially if you're doing PT with them, I think it would be beneficial for them to watch Daddy.

I don't see a problem with it. In fact, I think it will help with potty training. With my babes, I actually tell them what I am doing and lay the ground work for potty training.

If anyone gets to go to the bathroom alone - more power to you. I barely get to go without my 6 year old barging in!

I'm probably in the minority here, but my girls watch as well and see my DH naked. I don't see anything wrong with it. We have taken the stance that it's good to see so they know what boys have versus girls. We don't want to make an issue or give a stigma to anything...after all, it's all natural human nature. Now, when they get older, we will not be walking around naked in front of them, but at this age, I don't see a problem. I remember when I was a young girl, I took a few showers with my father so that I could learn the differences between girls and boys. It was completely harmless and I learned and that was the end of that. I was probably three or four and did it maybe five times.

We are the same as you, here. :)

I have all boys. I actually told DH to stand up and pee to show Anthony how to do it (the twins are not at that point yet).

But on the flip, Anthony is with me all the time when I shower, change, pee etc. I think it's healthy and I don't want to create issues with nakedness. They are still so young, I don't want them being obsessed or freaked out about it. We are very non-chalant about it.

I am sure that before long, I will have to start being naked in private, but for now, I think it's fine.

I have to post a very passionate, NO BIGGIE... boy, girl, mommy, daddy.

I totally believe that at this age (mine are only 17 months) that it is WEIRD to hide our bodies from our children's natural curiosity. I have been using their curiosity to my advantage and, "Mommy has to go pee-pee", is now one of the boys more exciting moments of the day (Usually followed by 13 repetitions of, "Just look, no touch" . It's a great way to lay the ground work for potty training, and, more importantly, raise kids with a healthy, unashamed attitude towards bodies.

There will come a time when we will also teach them the value of privacy, but for now I feel they are better served out in the open!

We purposely have DH take the boys into the bathroom when he goes "potty" so that they can see how it's done :D We haven't started potty training yet but I figure this is the first step towards it.

I personally give DH all the credit for our recent potty training success by demonstrating to the boys how to use the toilet. I am a very modest person and I am really uncomfortable using the toilet in front of anyone, including my kids. Not only do I think it's okay for them to see him use the bathroom, at this age it is beneficial so they know the actual purpose of that room.
