Where do you think I could find a small enough backpack for my girls to wear?

I saw Kohls had some real small pull back packs, didn't see if they had smaller back packs though.

I bought two little backpacks for my girls that had little ballerina teddy bears attached to them. Way cute!! I bought them at school but found them later at toys r us.

My girls have two backpacks each, but the best for that age was their "Dora" backpacks.

    This one, I think: http://shop.nickjr.com/product/index.jsp?p...rentPage=family

Lightweight, not bulky, and holds just enough for them. They love these and they've lasted up nearly two years now.

FWIW, the others we have are really cute ones from Hannah Andersen, and they are really sturdy, but bigger. They'll probably have those through elementary school.

FWIW, I got ours when they went on sale dirt cheap ($10 each) right before Christmas. So don't spend a ton, wait for them to go on sale. You have time. They are not toddler sized.

ETA: Because they are usually $29.50 http://www.hannaandersson.com/category.asp...mp;link=graphic

ETAA: Oh my, I NEED those lunch bags!!! :)

We found one at Payless, of all places. Actually, it was more like we were in Payless looking for their knock-off light-up Crocs, and Nadia spied a small Dora backpack that she HAD to have. (I think she was 2 at the time.)

It's actually been quite useful, and she still uses it to carry her Leapster and extra game cartridges around.

If you live near a Nike outlet, my dad got my DD's two little Nike backpacks there. It's been a while though, so I wouldn't make a long drive just for that because I'm not sure if they still carry them.

Michelle- TRU has toddler size backpacks and right now you get a free lunch kit with each one. This is just one that they have. :)

The Children's Place has "mini backpacks" - last year's were cuter than this years (and I missed buying them when they went on sale for $6!). Still, they're the perfect size, and only $15.50 HERE.

Oh my gosh - I LOOOOVE those! I love that they are quilted so they will be super soft. They are more than what I wanted to pay so I might just have to pass this along as a birthday gift idea. :D

I can't believe there are so many places that sell toddler backpacks. I figured I would be on a hunt. Thanks again!!

We have two Dr. Suess ones. One came free with a Scholastic book order. Of course we can't have just one, so my mom found the exact same one on ebay, got it for $.99! They are perfect, they use them to take friends and a change of clothes over to my parents' house.
