I broke down and became one of those parents who put their children on leashes. I ordered them on-line and just got them today, here is a link to the one I ordered. I can't wait to try it out, its become so hard to go anywhere with them. Now that they walk/run all they want to do is go. They down right refuse to sit in their stroller so I can't do anything alone anymore. :( These leashes came just in time too, this last weekend kicked off a huge festival here (National Cherry Festival). I want to take the girls on Saturday but I've been so worried about dealing with them wanting to run everywhere. Now I can let them! Whoever said it got easier when they got older was lying! :p

I used to be SOOOOO against them until I started reading other posts on here about how wonderful they are. Now that I watch other mom's in our twins club chase their walkers all around, I think it's a GREAT idea!!! You'll have to let us know how they work out for you.

I didn't buy/use them with my older kids. I bought 2 a couple of weeks ago, just in case.... :icon_biggrin: The festival sounds like fun! Let us know how they do with them!

HA HA! I did the same thing today. I used to rant and rave about people who keep their kids on "leashes", and today I ordered two b/c we joined a playgroup that meets outdoors in public parks oftentimes, and I don't want my two monkeys roaming off without me! I had to laugh when I saw your post b/c I feel like I'm not the only one who has done this. I, too, was convinced by a TS post about them where everyone raved about how useful they are!

We got them for vacation -it was the best thing. They could walk with us and we knew they were right there. I got them from target for $20 for both! They were little puppy dogs. WE just told the girls they needed to walk their dogs (literally). They love them!! I used to be totally against it- not anymore! Kind of one of those situations where you don't understand until you are in those shoes.

    Trish, you will love them!

My guys LOVE theirs, they have the Monkey Backpack ones, and they put their sippy cups in the back... they even wear them around the house, it is so cute!

TOOOOOOOTALLY AGREE! We haven't purchased ours yet, but are planning to before a trip at the end of the month.

Anyone care to share how they "leash-trained" their twins?

Seriously, how did you "convince" them to wear them happily? Our boys don't have a lot of receptive language skills just yet and I'm imagining the tantrum Nick will throw already!

I have never used them but I think they are a great idea! Let us know how they work out.

BTW- I grew up in Detroit and used to always hear about the Cherry Festival in Traverse City. Sounds like a blast! Have fun with your little ones.

my mom bought them for the twins and let me tell you I could have used them today - of course they don't want to ride in the cart or stroller in BRU anymore so we let them walk - DD was at the back of the store in the blink of an eye and DS nearly walked out the front door!

My mom asked me about getting these, if I was interested. I told her no at the time, but that I wasn't sure. I might change my mind. Now that my kids are going in two different directions, it would be nice to let them roam a little and not be pulling my hair out. My MIL told me she doesn't like them, but once I described going to a mall with both of them alone, she thought it might not be a bad idea for us.

Keep us posted. I'd love to hear about your experience with them. :)

I bought a couple last week at Wal-Mart. I got a puppy and a monkey. When I got home I put them on the kids. At first Lynae didn't like hers on her back, so we put it on the front, she kept kissing it. Lucas ran around the house with the "tail" dragging behind him. Several cats pounced on it as he ran by. I have never heard him laugh so much! Next, taking them out in public..........

I'm buying one for Wesley next time we're somewhere that sells them. He's walking too well for his own good, and doesn't want to be confined to a cart or stroller already (he's only 11 months)! I'm going to try it first at my grandparents house.

My boys are a little older but I just bought them some to take to Disney World. William tends to wander and in a crowded situation he is gone in the blink of an eye (we have lost him in a busy Walmart before and that took years off my life). I don't know how I am going to get them to cooperate with this idea though. We have the cute stuffed animal ones (we got them when they were about your all ages), and as much as they love playing with them at home get them in public and is meltdown. We haven't tried them in 18mos or so though (really really bad meltdowns), so hopefully they will be more mature about it (yeah right).

This is EXACTLY what I am expecting from Nick. bad....really, really bad. :rotflmbo: (that's Nick, throwing a temper tantrum, not me rotflmao). ;)

I put the leashes on the girls yesterday and they loved them. They both had a meltdown when I took them off. It'll be interesting to see how Saturday goes. At one point yesterday (when we they had them on) they were playing follow the leader. :) At this point they are the newest greatest thing. :) Hopefull that lasts. I let you all know how it goes on Saturday.

We just bought a couple yesterday, the little monkey ones. With me being so pregnant, it's getting really hard to chase them around when they refuse to stay in their stroller! I put them on them yesterday and they loved it!

Try to remember that you are not JUST a MOM, you are a Mother of Twins! So, you have to have some safety precautions because there are too many weirdos out there!!

We had the same problem last year with the girls. They loved them at home and wanted to wear them all the time, so we thought, "hey, this will be a breeze"....NOT!!!! They hated them when we went on vacation last year. We were better off in the umbrella strollers. I haven't tried them since, so maybe I need to try again, but I almost dread it!! If anyone would wants to buy them off me to try on your kids let me know, I might just consider selling them!!!

I requested some for their first birthday. I will wait until they can walk reasonably well before I use them. My plan is to use the harnesses and the stroller at the same time. They walk with the harnesses or they get in the stroller. (At least when I am disiplining the first, the second can't run into traffic). When we are trained that way, we will try just walking no stroller. My future caregiver told me that that was the way to do it.

I also hate hearing people call them leashes. It sounds a lot better to say child harnesses. It kind of takes the edge off.

I hate to do it but Safety First!!

I got a leash for Emma. It's the little puppy kind and it is cute! She doesn't like having me tug on her leash but it's 100% better than her running away while I deal with the twinkies!

We have the monkey ones for my little monkies and they love'em but they know they either wear their monkey or they are strapped in the stroller (they usually chose the monkey!!!
