My twins just turned one and am interested in a getting a book on raising toddlers (these are our 1st kids). Do any of you have any recommendations? I never read the Happiest Baby on the Block when the kids were younger, but a lot of people recommended it on the 1st year forum. I just heard that there is a Happiest Toddler on the Block, but I read some reviews on it and they are very hot and cold. People either loved it or hated it. I would appreicate any recommendations. Also, are there any good books out there that would be applicable to twins? A lot of the ones I have seen deal a lot with pregnancy, but haven't seen much on the todller years.

    Thanks for the input!

I don't have any specific recommendations (fortunately I get the bulk of my parenting advice/input here), however, I just wanted to let you know that you can always rent Happiest Toddler on the Block on DVD. That way, you can quickly decide if his techniques are right for you (or not, like me! ;) )

Like Kate, I get most of my advice from TS. I rarely have time to put into reading a book.

I have several books, but have to say that beyond the first year, I haven't looked at them much. I get a lot of advice here and from family.

I do keep a copy of What to expect....Toddler Years and a copy of Dr. Spock here at the house. I can't remember what the others are.

I have Touchpoints by T. Berry Brazelton. There are a couple of volumes, I think 0-3 and 4-7 (I may be off a little). We only have the first one so far. There is a lot of infant stuff in there that won't apply anymore, but a lot of it should still be useful. There isn't a lot of specific twin stuff, but it's just a good general book to have on hand.

Like Moski, I have What to Expect the Toddler Years. Lots of great info and it's done month by month so you can read the month you're about the enter or the one your in or a couple ahead. There is such great info on the development of toddlers in both physical and cognitive means and at the beginning of each chapter it gives you an idea of milestones that they may have reached or will possibly be reaching during that month. Each chapter also has a Q&A section with some very common questions, concerns and problems that parents may come across with their own toddler. I highly recommend it. Very easy read and you only have to read a little at a time.

I have the Touchpoints book, too......not sure which one, but it covers birth through toddler years. I really liked it, actually. Lots of good info. I only read the part that was applicable to our ages.

Otherwise, I get pretty must most of my info here!! :)
