We tried to put them in toddler beds - their cribs convert. However they don't have rails, so is 17 inches high in regards to if they fall out?

I guess what happened was they thought it was fun time and they just ran around, jumped on them, etc.
What do you do to get them to sleep in them or even just lay down?

I wonder if we should put them in different rooms but I fear they will be upset without the other one as they look for eachother all the time.

Oh, and the boys are 2.5 and never try to climb out of their cribs. Kyle just wont sleep in his.

Honestly, I would deal with one problem at a time. Get them to spend the entire night in their cribs--I just responded to your other post, then tackle the beds. We ended up bungying the door closed from the time they went to bed until we went to bed just to keep them in the room. I really didn't care if they slept in the bed or on the floor, eventually, they would just choose the bed.

    thanks,
We have actually stayed out of his room, but he eventually wakes up Ryan and then all Crazyiness breaks loose. I think I will go with what others suggested and just do the todller beds, let them go nuts if they want and eventually fall asleep. I guess the big thing to do is completely safety proof their room?
Is there anything else that you have to do in order to feel OK with letting them play in their together while we are in another room? Their room doesn't have much for them to touch actually, we cleaned it up entirely and the only thing left is for me to do is secure their sliding closet doors.

I actually didn't remove anything or lock their closet doors. They never had a problem. At first we did have them empty drawers or their bookshelf. One afternoon spent helping me clean up the mess one book at a time stopped them from doing that again.

So is it Ok to leave 2 - 2.5 year olds in their room until they fall asleep somewhere? Our pedi said that he thinks the end to the problem of sleeping in the big bed is the toddler beds because at night we can sit on the bed with him when he wakes up to go in the big room.

It never occured to me that it would be a problem to leave them in their room.

Well this is a tough question and one that I really don't have an answer. I agree with one of the pp, we turned their lock around so it faces the hallway and go through our bedtime routine, kiss them goodnight and leave. We lock the bedroom door until we go to bed. Sometimes we find my son asleep on the floor, but this beats the alternative of 2.5 hour bedtime routine and trying to get them to bed. My daughter is great and stays in bed and we have no problem with her, but her brother....well we asked the pedi about it and his advice was to either put the childproof door handle covers or turn the lock around. We tried the door handle covers but he figured those out so we tried the lock. We also unlock it before we go to bed so that if they wake in the middle of the night that they can open the door.
