Toddler beds

if you recall I wrote the other day about my girls being able to open the crib tent, I am thinking about converting their crib into the toddler bed so at least the little MONKEYS won't hurt themselves getting out. I don't think my girls are ready but I think it may become a safety issue.

What was your experience like?
What age did you put them in beds?
How many nights did it take for them to go to bed without a problem?
Did they wake in the night?
How long were they awake before going to sleep?

I know we have a couple current and former SY mommas who made the transition. I hope they can pop on here and help you out. We are going to put the girls in beds in the next couple of weeks and I am DREADING it.

Hi! I had to put my girls in toddler beds about a month ago because they were jumping out of their cribs. I have to say, its been rough. We used to be able to lay them down in their cribs and they would go right to sleep, but thats not the case anymore! Night time got better after about two weeks, and they usually end up sleeping together in one little bed. But nap times are close to nonexistant unless we go for a drive...I guess there is just too much fun stuff for them to do in their rooms!! Good luck to you!

 

It has been a pretty good experience for us. I think we made the switch around 18 months old. They slept in the beds with no problem right from the first night. I think one time one baby fell out of the bed but that's been it. At first either DH or I would sit in the room but look at the floor when it was time for a nap or bed. But now we just tuck them in their beds and shut the door. They wake in the night sometimes, but we put a baby gate up at the door so they can't just roam the house. I don't know if they get out of bed in the night, if they do get out of bed they don't cry. I know they get out of bed sometimes b/c they always wind up in the bed together and we don't put them in bed that way. They play for awhile before they go to sleep. I'd say on average they play for 30 minutes before falling asleep but I'm not sure, b/c they know they have to be very quiet. If we hear them making noise after "bed time" we go and put them back in their own beds, so they are very quiet in there.

 

What was your experience like?
Way Easier than I ever thought it would be! We made "Big Girl Beds" a HUGE deal! We redecorated their room and talked about it for a good 2 weeks before we made the transition. Then when the day finally came, and their room was done they girls were so happy! I was scared to death to make the switch, but honestly my girls have slept WAY better and go to sleep faster than they did in their cribs. Kylee has gotten out of bed once since we made the transition and that was to give her sister a teddy bear, but went right back to her own bed and went to sleep. They were getting out of their cribs every day!

I put them in their beds, tell them good night, give them a kiss and that is the end of that. I even bought a video monitor because I was so worried about it, but all I see is them laying in their beds!

What age did you put them in beds?
21 Months

How many nights did it take for them to go to bed without a problem?
They've gone to bed and napped better from the first time we put them in beds.

Did they wake in the night?
Nope

How long were they awake before going to sleep?
5-10 Max. Way quicker than when they were in cribs!
