My guys are close to jumping out. My next solution is my ready to go cribtents.

    However...

When can they have a pillow? I heard Walmart sells smaller Toddler pillows but I haven't seen them.
When can they have a flat sheet? I think this would be good for the bigboy bed, but want to buy them seperately. Has anyone made their own or just used a twin sized one instead? (to save $$)

How long did you transition to the bigchild bed? How long did it take you to get back to Your normal sleeping pattern? Did you remove everything from their room? Do you still use a monitor?

We have been in the process for two weeks now, last night was actually the first night that both boys slept through. I think it took a little longer though because they were in new beds, in a new house, in their own room so a lot of changes  I don't use pillows yet, only because they both could care less but my others have had pillows starting at about age 2, in their beds and they did fine. I use twin flat sheets because I have plenty and it saves money, just fold it over, or we just use their light blankets that we used in the crib, whatever they don't get tangled up in.

Was that regular pillows or smaller sized?

My girls have been using blankets and pillows for sometime now. They currently use pillow pets. They aren't too big or too small. We use other linens from Ikea because they're inexpensive and made specially for toddlers. Good luck!

My DD switched to a toddler bed around 19 months because she was climbing out the crib. Both of my kids use pillow pets as a pillow and love them. I just used a toddler bed sheet as a flat sheet but my two love sleeping under their fleecy Diego and Yo Gabba Gabba blankets right now.
I don't use the monitor in DD's room. The transition took a few weeks. Initially DD slept fine in the toddler bed and then she realized she could get out. It was not too bad at night time but nap times were rough. I would sit in the room with her and read (to myself) and my presence encouraged her to stay in bed. Once the novelty wore off, she stayed in bed fine and slept okay during nap and bedtime. I also made sure that anything I thought she could injure herself with was out of her reach or out of the room.
    Good luck with the transition!

I got DS a pillow a little before he turned 2, because I started noticing he'd lay with pillows on the floor in the living room, and he'd even bunch up a blanket or a stuffed animal - I figured that meant he was ready for one. He used a pillow for a full year before he was ready to get out of the crib. He uses a kind of "flattened" pillow of ours - it's used, but to me it's the right thickness for his size, if he's on his side, it's not putting his neck at a funny angle.

We are just now making the move to toddler beds here. It's been a week or two and things are getting better. Mine have been using pillows since around 2. We just use the standard size pillows though.

I did find some great deals through Ikea though for bed linens. I got my two coordinating sets for $20 each and it comes with a duvet cover, top sheet, fitted sheet, and pillow case. I just thought that was an awesome deal! I still plan to use their crib sheets too. Their baby blankets aren't really working anymore so I'm glad to get a blanket the right size.
