Okay, so we are getting ready to switch our boys from cribs to toddler beds. We will be using their crib mattresses still, so the fitted sheets I have will work, but I guess I need to get a flat sheet and quilt or blanket, right? I have a twin size quilt put away for each of them, but will that be too big on a toddler bed? (we don't have room for two twin beds in their room and they have to share a room for now....)

And what about pillows? Do they make toddler size pillows?? They each have a pillow pet, but they should have a real pillow, too, right?

Sorry, I'm really clueless about this!

Standard pillows fit in our boys beds (a converted crib) and as for the bedding...just give them a blanket. I spent $65 on each of the boys' bedding and they lay on top of the quilt and cover with their baby blankies. I don't even put the sheet on anymore! LOL, maybe its just my little weirdos but I say save your money til you know how they will be;)

I just used a couple of their bigger baby blankets for awhile on their toddler beds. Then I bought toddler bedding at the twins consignment sale for about $10 a set ;)

I think the twin quilt is going to be really really big, it would probably tuck all the way under the mattress it's so much longer than a crib mattress. If you have a big enough baby quilt I'd just use that, but otherwise I'd probably either try to find a used toddler set, or go ahead and get a toddler set. It's nice being able to tuck their blanket in at the bottom so it doesn't slide off of them.

I use a twin sized quilt and fold it in half so it's like a sleeping bag. They seem to like that! I bought pretty much all their bedding at Ikea; they have great pillows for toddlers that are a bit smaller and quite flat for tummy sleepers.

Mine sleep on their pillow pets. I tried a regular pillow and it always ended up on the floor. They started with crocheted baby blankets from their cribs and then a month or two in they picked out fleece throw size blankets that are more than adequate to cover them. They love their lightning McQueen and hello kitty blankets! We do not tuck them in or make it like a regular bed bc half the time they are sleeping sideways or with their butt in the air

You can buy pretty cheap bedding at Target or Ikea. Honestly though that's why we skipped toddler beds - we didn't want to have to buy bedding twice in 2 years. That being said, we don't use the top sheet... just the bottom sheet, pillow case and comforter.

No top sheet here. Honestly, I didn't know they made top sheets for toddler beds. Seems like they'd just get tangled up in them. My kids all still tossed and turned a lot at that age. Like the PPs said, I just use a large baby blanket or a lap size quilt on him. It varies. He's in pullups but soaking through almost every night, so he has a variety we use.

On that aside, suggestions for soaking through? He goes potty right before bed, I limit his drinks the last hour and he's in nighttime pullups. He's just a prolific pee-er.

Why use pull ups? I just use diapers at night... it seems they're more absorbent than pull ups, and cheaper.

Sorry about the redundant post! My smartphone is apparently not so smart!

Thanks, everyone. I think I have a game plan now. We already have both standard pillows and pillow pets, so that is covered.

I found a great deal on sheets online, too. I would love to go straight to a twin bed, but we have the convertible cribs, and with our current house, it's just not feasible to have two twin beds (their room is too small and separating isn't an option). But we plan to move in a year or two and then will probably go to twin beds when we do that.

Another option, we have a ton of the 4'x5'(? I think that's the size) throw blankets that they use/prefer. They also use standard pillows.
