Up to now, we have been bathing the boys one at a time in a little plastic tub that we set in the big bathtub. But now I think they are finally able to sit in the big bathtub without going under! Although they can sit and stand and crawl and cruise on dry land, they just seemed wobbly enough with all of it that I wanted to keep them contained in the little tub. Anyway, now I think they can do it, and would like to bathe them in the big tub at the same time.

So my question is, if you're bathing them at the same time, how the heck do you get them both out and dry them off? After I get one out and wrapped in a towel, what do I do with him when I'm getting the other one out and dried off? Leave him sit on the bathroom floor (which I'm sure he won't do...I'll end up with a naked baby crawling around the house)? I'm just not picturing how this will work.

Here's what I did at the crawling stage: bring two diapers and two towels into the bathroom, and close the door, both for containment and to keep it a little warmer in there. Then when it's time to get out, take the first baby out and pull the plug (but leave the second baby still in the tub). The water will drain out while you dry and diaper the first baby, then just let her crawl around the bathroom while you take the second one out and dry/diaper her.

I still do this, more or less, though sometimes I wait till we're out of the bathroom before I do the diapers (since I'm pretty sure they won't pee or poop on the bathroom floor).

Couldn't have said it better myself! :good: This is exactly what we do too. Just be sure that the toilet seat is down or you have a lock on it...mine always go for that first!

Same here as the pps. We keep the door closed for containment purposes!!

Keep door shut for warmth (and containment!). I always would take one out and be watching the one still in the tub while I lotion & dress the first. Then I would get the other one out.

I can't help with logistics because DH would always come to get whoever was clean first.

But wait until you put them in the tub together. HAVE CAMERA READY. Once they discover that they can splash each other, let the fun begin. I still remember their first bath together - it's one of those memories I will always cherish.

This is what I do too, except I don't pull the plug until both are out. That way the one still in the tub can keep playing while they wait.

I'm really of no help because I can count on one hand the number of times I've bathed them on my own. DH and I always do bedtime, including baths, together. If he's out of town, I just take one out, towel off and let them wait in the bathroom with me while I remove the other, dry off, then we all head next door to their bedroom for diapers and pjs. I've never had a pee accident yet (knock on wood).

We run a lot of water in the tub (enough to come up to their chests when they're sitting down), so it runs out just as I'm finishing putting the first diaper on. Whichever one is left in the tub usually enjoys watching the water go down (so far, they haven't gone through any stages of being afraid of the drain).

I should also admit that DH and I did baths together about 95% of the time at that stage. But when I did it on my own, that's how I did it, and it worked pretty well.

Now that they are older, I take the first one out, dry her off, and then say "Go tell Daddy you need a diaper" and send her naked out into the living room. :D

We JUST did first baths in the big tub last night. and together. me by myself. ditto what everyone else said. I closed bathroom door, made sure I had everything in there. towel, lotion, diapers, pj's etc. Pulled Natalie out and the drain out of the tub, dried her off etc. and by the time I was done, the water had ran out and Carley was ready to come out. I'm not opposed to them running naked for a little while, so next time I'll dry them off and let them run naked and put pj's etc. on in the living room. there's more room in there for me etc. You'll find your own way and then have to tweak it now and then for convenience etc. Have fun!!
