Well, I've been in the hospital for 3 weeks now and we finally had another growth scan today. Three weeks ago our stats were:

    Baby A: 1lb 4oz; 7th percentile
    Baby B: 2lb 4oz; 52nd percentile

    and now

    Baby A: 1lb 10oz; 1st percentile
    Baby B: 2lb 14oz; 32nd percenetile

So, baby A is still very much behind. In the 21 days that I've been here, she's shown only 12 days of growth. However, her blood flow was improved today, fluid levels look great, she has matured and is biophysically the same as her sister. All of that to say, she is just small. The doctor says he is pleased with her progress and maturity rate. Everyone has been very positive, but I have been a blubbering idiot this morning. I got myself so upset that I made myself sick.

I think it just hit me all at once that when she is born, she is going to have the fight of her life ahead of her. I know she's a fighter, or she wouldn't have made it this far, but I'm not looking forward to seeing my babies struggle in the NICU. I know it is inevitable and am trying to prepare myself mentally. Anyone who has a similar story to share, I would love to hear about your journey.

Thank you all for the support and prayers. Medically, there's nothing that can be done at this point. It's all in God's hands. we're praying to make it to 32 weeks and then anything after that would be icing on the cake.

    Thanks and God bless,
    Danielle, DH and the girls

    Danielle,

You and your girls have been in my prayers daily and will continue to be. I just know that little girl is a fighter, and she will keep fighting don't you worry.

My sister had her son at just 25 weeks gestation and he weighed 1lb 10oz when he was born - now he is a happy and healthy (and BIG) 2 year old with no signs of what he had endured. Her situation was different as she had an infection that like 1 in every 8 million pregnant women get that forced her into labor so they had little time to help - she only had 1 steroid shot before he was born. It was a struggle but he did it and with the technology today and the wonders of the medical world, I look at him now and cry....

You are their Mom ( and a great one already) so of course you will feel their pain. struggles and tears, but know that it is your strength and that of DH that will keep them here and make them strong.

You have done an incredible job - and these little girls will be perfect.....

    Big Big Big  's

I will keep you in my prayers!! Sometimes with multiples, its the tiniest ones that fair better in the nicu. The stress in utero makes them stronger.....Keep cooking them and I hope and pray you make it way past 32 weeks!!!

I had my 2 at 32.4 weeks, sophie (baby b ) who was the smallest + only weighed 3lb 4 was the strongest of the 2 and was on room air from birth and never gets ill. Jack who was bigger (4lb 5) needed oxygen for a couple of days, had jaundice, didnt feed very well and now picks up every chest infection going! So in their case the smallest baby was/is now the strongest one. I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts. Big  to you both x

Check out my avatar for my 25 weeker (Emilie), she was 1 lb. 10 oz when she was born and will be 3 in Feb. and is absolutley perfect!! :) Please try to keep the success stories in your mind, I know they REALLY helped me while my two were in the NICU, I needed that hope.

I will keep your girls in my thoughts and prayers.

You and your babies are in my thoughts. My friend had a singleton at 28 weeks due to severe pre-e. He weighed 780 grams at birth (less than 2lbs) and he's a healhty 3 1/2 year old now. Sure, he had a few issues and he didn't come home until close to his due date, but he's here and now a big brother to a little girl.

You're doing the best you can! Hang in there!

    Thinking about you!

    Danielle,

I am rooting for your girls!!

Wanted to also thank you for your posts - I have been following closely because my mono/di girls are in a similar situation just 10 weeks behind yours (baby B keeps falling farther and farther behind in growth and fluids). We are going in for a big u/s and eco tomorrow - I only hope that my girls are able to do as well and make it as far as yours have. Your story has been bringing me hope when I sometimes feel that there is none, and for that I can't thank you enough.

Hang in there - you are in the home stretch...

I am know you and your babies will be fine. I went through a similar thing with one growth restricted baby, very low fluid levels and poor blood flow and bestrest for 3 months. They came 10 weeks early at 2lbs 1oz and 2lbs 10oz and they are doing great now. Hang in there!

    Danielle,
I have been keeping you in my thoughts as you have posted several updates for us on your progress (thank you for that). It sounds like she is a fighter and here is to cooking those babies longer. I am sure it is scary to think of NICU time but that forum here on TS is amazing so you know you will have so much support and well wishes to see you through.
