Today's Appt

I had my one hour Glucose test today. That drink is VERY sweet. I got naseaus and light headed. No one sid that might happen! I still don't feel quite right. Thankfully my DH was around to drive me the 30 minutes into the hospital!
I failed, barely. It was supposed to be 135 or lower, and mine was at 144. I'm not quite sure what all of this means. I guess I will google diabetes, since I know nothing about it. I will go in on Saturday for my 3 hour test.
Oh, I do not want to go through feeling like this again!

 

I just went through all of this stuff this week.

First of all, you are borderline which is good. With my daughter, I saw a different OB, and the said it needed to be under 140...mine was 143. Just enough to go do the 3hr. However, it came back fine.

This time...same thing...under 140. It was 147. So off to the 3hr I went again. I was more nervous this time due to PCOS. It also came back fine, but I have to do it again at 28wks.

I felt a little nausous, but had a slight headache at the 1hr. My midwife prewarned that I would feel like crap from the 3 hr. I did the first hour. Headache and thought for sure I was going to throw up. The drink is double sweet for the 3hr. However, I felt better after the first hour, and by the end I felt really good beside being hungry and tired from lack of sleep. It really is more of a pain due to the waiting.

Sorry to hear you have to do the 3 hour but we definitely have alot of members who have failed the 1 hour and done just fine with the 3! I hope the test goes well for you!

 

I also failed my one hour which was kind of a surprise because everything had been going so well. I wouldn't worry too much, apparently it is quite common to fail the one hour. I went back a couple weeks later and took the 3 hour and passed. Even if you do fail the three hour, you will just have to meet with a specialist and try to control your sugar with diet and probably test your sugar levels each day. I would make sure you bring a good book or magazines to your three hour, it makes the time go by a lot faster. Good Luck!

 

I am sorry you didn't get a better warning for the test. I had always done fine with mine. But this time around, I got an awful headache. Probably more because I took my three older kids with me :lol

It sounds like you are pretty borderline. I would try not to worry about it too much.
