I posted a while back about how the kids were really gaining momentum for potty training. Then they got colds. Then DH got sick. Then I got sick. Then it was the holidays. So we had to put it on the back burner for a while.

So now we're finally getting back to it. They've shown us that they can do pretty well when we let them just experiment with the potty chairs, so today is "Bye-bye diapers!" day. They have the option of wearing nothing, underwear, underwear and sweatpants, or just sweatpants. For now, they'll still wear diapers when we go out. We're not even thinking of nap/nighttime PT right now, because they invariably wake up soaked (and soaked through a double diaper  ). But whenever they're at home and awake, no diapers. They get chocolate or juice (they get to pick) whenever they use the potty chair.

So, here goes! Wish us luck! :hunting for "doing a cannonball into the deep end of the pool" smiley:

Good luck Holly! We just did this a few months ago and it wasn't nearly as stressful or messy as I expected. I hope everyone pees where you want them to all day today!

How is it going?? I hope well! Ryan did great right away, but Jake is still not ready. We'll be trying again in a month or so.

So far so good! :yahoo: (Not that that can't change at any moment, though. ;) )

Andrew: only 2 accidents (1 small poop, 1 pee). Several pees and one giant poop with no prompting from me. Also, when we got back from playgroup and his diaper was dry, I told him maybe he needed to pee, led him to the potty chair - and he sat down and let loose. Great control!

Ivy: no accidents! Lots of pees in the potty chair with no prompting. No poop yet (I suspect that may be hard for her to get used to - she's never done it yet).

Both have been pretty good about coming and "trying" when I ask them to.

Funny, I'm only meeting resistance when it comes to taking off the diaper after sleep or after getting home! Once it's off, they're ok, but I have to bribe them with juice to take it off in the first place. Huh.

Awesome! I'm glad they're doing so well. It's so great to be diaper-free once you're finally over that hump.

(I need to push Karina a bit, and plan to do it over her spring break. Kev is clearly just not ready, but I can't wait until we're done with diapers for good!)

They're still doing great at this. Whoohoo! They'll actually stop what they're doing, announce that they have to pee, and dash off to the potty chair! This evening Andrew left a trail of poop through 3 rooms in the 30 seconds it took me to go upstairs and gather up their bath stuff - and bragged about it to me when he saw me. :headbang: But aside from that, we really haven't had that many accidents. I'm so relieved! Waiting totally paid off.
