To party or not to party?

The girls cousin is turning three tomorrow and is having her bday party. Well, Aidyn has an MRI scheduled for next Fri so we really don't want to risk her getting sick and have to reschedule. Should we skip the party? I guess we could go and just keep the girls in the stroller and only be there for a little bit. But my family is so pushy they'll want to take them out. The party is at Chuck E Cheese or one of those places. What do you think?

Personally I would think youd be asking for trouble at chuck e cheese, there will be so many kids there. Even if you kept them in the stroller they would still be exposed to the air in there. If you dont want them sick I dont think you should go

Our babies are almost the exact same age as yours so I understand your concern. There seems to be a lot of people that are sick in our area right now so it seems like something is always "going around." So I tend to be extra cautious when they are exposed to "sick" people. We've made it a standard rule that anyone that handles the babies have to wash their hands. We believe a lot of the transfer of germs can be eliminated if people just improve their hygiene. (I always cringe when I see people leave public restrooms without washing their hands.) Since it's important that Aidyn be healthy for her MRI I think it's ok not to attend, but if you do go...it's a good idea to limit her exposure at the party. As for people at the party that disagree with you, I would just keep explaining to them that it's cold/flu season and babies are especially susceptible. You may have to remind them that having twins means that most likely both will end up getting sick, not just one. If you feel comfortable, you might want to inform them of her upcoming MRI and how important it is for her to be healthy. Good luck! [IMG]

It's a definite risk at a place like that.... I might find a way to have the girls miss it. Maybe DH can stay home and you can go (if it's your family - or the other way around for his) and be there, give gifts etc. and cut out early. That way you guys didn't totally blow it off. kwim? Then you can just hope they understand!

I probably would not go, because of the MRI. I would just explain the situation, and apologize for not being able to make it. I bet they will understand. [IMG]

I'm normally very lax about germs, but even I would probably keep them home in that situation. Chuck E Cheese has got to be particularly bad in terms of contagious stuff floating around.

I'm also normally very relaxed about the whole germ issue, but I imagine Chuck E Cheese is about the germiest place around. In your situation, I would probably keep them home, you don't want to have to miss your MRI. I also notice when I have mine out & about that even in their stroller people always seem to be grabbing their little hands. What is with that? Can we say cold & flu season?? [IMG] It drives me crazy. So, unless you want to stand-by with wipes to clean them down every time, I would just keep them home, I'm sure everyone would understand.
