I'm just wondering if you are planning on dressing your twins the same or differently and why. I don't want to start an argument or anything, I'm just curious as to everyone's plans and their reasoning behind it. Thanks!

    NO. NO. NO. NO.

I think twins struggle with individuality enough as it is the last thing I need to do is make them more alike.
I worry a lot about that struggle but since they are b/g it probably wont be as difficult as if they were g/g or b/b. I just grew up with a couple sets of same sex twins and they really struggled at time. Usually it was just one of them and not both but one is more than enough for me!!

    I say yes yes yes...

While u can get away with it!! its cute why not and u will get a lot of outfits bought for u that are the same, so why not.

As they get older they will let u know that they don't want to. Which has been happening around here for about a year now (they're 4)

I'm a twin and I LOVE the pictures of my twin and I dressed alike when we were little. LOVE them.

So, yes, when they are little, for photos and special occasions they will probably be dressed in coordinating or matching outfits. Once they reach an age where they can communicate what they want to wear, then they can choose whether they want to dress alike or differently.

We have bought a few of the same outfits for our twins, then a few of the same outfit, but different colors- like one pink, one purple. I do not want to try to dress them the same all of the time, I think that would be so hard trying to change their clothes during the day- if one messes I wouldn't change the other if her outfit was still clean. But I think times like special outings, pictures etc would be fun to dress them alike!

Probably some. Not going out of my way to do it, but I imagine we'll be getting a few matching outfits as gifts. Our girls aren't identical, so I imagine they'll look different anyway. Eventually they'll pick their own clothes. I'm not organized enough to have them match all the time even if I wanted them to. :)

I don't dress the girl in the same clothes. We did receive a couple of matching outfits but I never put them on at the same time. Our girls are totally different, one is blonde with blue eyes and the other has brown hair and green eyes. Maybe if they were ID I might feel differently about it.

I do seem to end up putting them both in pink or another color a lot - and I try to make sure they don't clash

I thought about this some more. and I do like CORRELATING onesie's...like the THING #1 and THING #2. I think those are way cute. But as far as putting them both in sailor outfits and stuff. No Thank you!!!

I'm going with mostly no. First, it seems like a lot of work to maintain -- I only want to change thier clothes if they are dirty, not if their brother's clothes are dirty. Second, I wasn't a twin, but I was close in age to my sister, and I HATED it when my mom bought us matching outfits. Sure, early on they don't know the difference, but I would feel bad. However, they will probably be dressed simillar, same shirt, different color, kinda thing for special occasions and portraits and stuff.

I'm having 2 boys...And yes, I plan on dressing them alike-at least while they are little. We have outfits that are the same, but we also have outfits that are the same but different colors, etc...Probably once they hit a yr old-I will do similar, but not the same outfits. While I can do it-I will! :)

We are going to dress them alike alot.. maybe not when we are just chilling at home or in pjs, but when I buy clothes, I just pick up two of the same.. Now if one pukes or something, I don't plan on changing them both..

I know this will not last forever, so I want to have fun with it while I can.. and we do buy some non matching too..

I will probably dress them alike for pictures and special occasions, but routinely, I won't- for a couple of reasons. The first reason being that a lot of the clothes I have are hand me downs so I don't have a ton of matching outfits. The other reason is that I think it kind of promotes stereotypes about twins and how they're the same person and not individuals. I'm a twin myself and I'm very thankful that my mom didn't dress us alike. It's hard enough to establish individuality and having a twin makes it that much harder.

Mine are b/g so I don't dress them the same. Sometimes I do coordinate the colors they are wearing though, but I do not buy matching outfits.

I'm not going to buy matching outfits. But I know that I'll get a ton of matching things at the showers. Just because I get 2 of the same outfit - does not mean I'm going to put them in the outfit at the same time.

I think it's okay some of the time.

I have a set of ID Twin girls who are now 16 and seniors in High school and I dressed them alike when they were small and guess what? They still dress alike about once a week. So I will be dressing my ID Boys alike until they say no more.

I've having b/g twins, so they won't really match, but coordinate sometimes. I don't plan on having them 'match' all the time, but for some pictures and special events, I will. I think it can be cute and fun when they're little though. :)

I'm going to when I can. I've received a lot of matching outfits so I think it will be cute to put them in little matching outfits when they are babies. I know once they are old enough to tell me what they want to wear that they won't dress matching anymore, so I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

Of course they won't be matching all the time, all of the used baby clothes people have given me aren't matching outfits, so there are going to be times when they aren't dressed alike.

i like the concept of "the same but not"... like the same dress, but one is purple and one is yellow... i prefer something like that, than having the exact same thing. you get more variety of outfits that way. unfortunately, everyone that has bought them clothes (except my mom) has bought exact matching outfits.

Thankfully, I don't have to worry as much about this with B/G twins, though I did make them some matching onesies for coming home from the hospital.

One mother I know who now has 15 yr. old fraternal twin girls thought that as the girls got older, buying them similar/same/coordinating outfits helped reduce sibling rivalry. Not making them wear the same thing on the same day, but finding them similar things so there wouldn't be the arguments over who got the better dress, etc. Seemed to work for them...

Mine have received many, many matching outfits for gifts. So they do dress alike, simply because we can't put all those things to waste.

I do dress them alike for special occasions (pics, baptism, holidays) but otherwise I prefer to dress them in coordinated things over matching. For example, the same outfit but different colors.

We have twin boys, 4 months, that I sometimes dress the same, and other times not. One twin is quite alot bigger than the other and they have grown REALLY fast (Marco is 21 pounds, 26 inches, 4 months old actual, 2.5 corrected - Jason is 17.5 pounds, 24 inches). So, alot of the clothes that were given to us were in sets of two that Marco has not even had a chance to wear and Jason wears both sets right now! Whatever fits, they wear - we buy quite alot of our clothes through the local twin association sales (which are fabulous) and often get only one set of clothes. But, I must admit, I love dressing them the same and when I do when I can. It's so cute ...!!!

As my twins are B/G I will dress them similarly, same thing - different color - while they are babies, when we go somewhere. I have been given soooo much stuff from family and friends (everyone seems to have just had a baby) that it will be impossible to do it all the time. I have some matching outfits that are sooooooooo cute. I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

When I was pregnant I thought I would not dress them the same but then all the clothes I received happened to be matching. I ended up likeing it and thinking it was cute so I continued.

I am all for dressing them alike. I think it is adorable. That was one thing I was very excited about having twins was that I finally get to dress them alike. But I am the type, that was planning on dressing all my kids alike for special occasion. (Ie: all the boys in matching outfits - including dad (if he lets me)).

When the twins are older and decide they don't want to then that is fine. But I am going to do it as long as possible. And maybe not EXACTLY all the time. But maybe one in red stripes and the other in blue stripes, etc...

It is very exciting to me!

It's too darn cute and I can't resist -- at least while they're too young to care!
We did inheret a lot of twin outfits that are great because they're the same, but in different patterns/colors etc. Still, my favorite is when they are totally matching

I am not going to be able to resist the urge to get matchy with cutsie things like holiday photos and halloween costumes, but in general no because I don't have enough patience to match esp if I am in a hurry and just need to grab the cleanest items of clothing and get me and babies out the door. Plus getting matchy with g/b twins is harder than with identicals, same sex twins I suspect

I haven't bought them anything that is the same, but I have received a few gifts...so I suppose I will dress them alike once in a while.

So far, I have bought coordinating outfits. I think I will dress them in coordinating outfits often...esp. when they are little. I imagine as they age, they will develop their own style and I am OK with that.

I have g/g twins and most of what we received as shower gifts and coming home gifts were matching outfits. So, they were mostly dressed alike. Now, I didn't go the extreme as when one dirtied an outfit, I didn't automatically change the other one...lol :) Most of what we had for the first year was matching outfits.

Now that they are older, I buy a lot of coordinating stuff. I'll buy one a pink shirt and one a purple shirt, etc. I normally dress them alike for pictures...but sometimes I do coordinating for that too. Just depends.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it...it's a personal preference. My girls both have totally different personalities and are definitely their own person, but I still think it's cute to dress them alike :)

We don't know the sexes of ours yet, won't till they are here...but their going home outfits are the same. I think we are having b/g twins so I bought something that worked either way and will put a bow on the girl, if I am right, for pictures in the hospital. Other than that we have gotten some matching outfits in yellow and green which I think will be cute. I think to have them coordinate for special times or occasions would be too fun. If we have g/g or b/b I will probably dress them alike when we can but most of our clothes will be hand-me-downs too so...we will see. As they get older though I would let them choose.

We have some matching outfits and some coordinating outfits and some that are none of the above. I will not be putting them in matching outfits when they get older, however, b/c i have a good friend who is an ID twin and he said that matching outfits -- and seeing pics of him and his twin in matching outfits when they were little -- still annoys the heck out of him.
