To change the "stinky" during a nap or not

I feel bad that when one of my kids poops during his nap I struggle with whether I should change him or not. And most of the time I dont unless there has been some sickness and I think its going to be a nasty one. But if they have gone before I go to bed and I am checking on them I will just do a "dream" change and they never wake up. But I am afraid that if it is pretty light in the room and they arent napping for that long anyway I dont want to ruin the sleep- but I dont want them getting diaper rash either. Anyone else share the dilemma??

I just don't do it. If they are sleeping, I don't mess with perfection.....

If they are asleep I'd let them sleep unless they are having Evil Diarrhea That Eats Butts. Just slather them in a good coat of diaper rash cream before naps to minimize the chance of getting a rash. My dd was a "poop, then immediately fall asleep" person for a while.

Like past posters said not unless they have diarhea... OR if you have fed them carrots, prunes, oranges, apple juice etc.. things that will burn the butt on their "way out".

I too change them at night and they never wake up, but during naps, i don't wake them unless it's a really bad one...

I flip flop back and forth on this but will ultimately end up changing them as my DD seems to get a nasty red rash if she sits with poop for any amount of time so needless to say she always seems to do it when it is nappy or bedtime. I think she has figured out she will stay up longer that way.

Gosh - I couldn't even dream of changing my girls during nap or night time sleep - they'd never sleep through it! I wish!!! My big poop problem is that now that the girls are ALMOST sleeping through the night - 6:30 pm - 4 am - they wake for a bottle - and would probably go back to sleep - if they didn't have poop - which they always seem to - my morning poopers! and it's REALLY hard to pick them up to change them and try to put them back down - they think if Mom comes in - it's play time - yeeehaahhh!!!

Another one that agrees! They are only napping a couple of hours, I don't think much harm can be done.

Ditto to this statement. I have never changed them during a nap.

I have that problem everyday. It's like they choose naptime to have a poop  I don't bother changing at naptime as it will just wake them up and naptime is over. I learned this the few times I attempted to change them without waking...wasn't possible  woke them everytime!! Those were fun days! If it's bedtime yes as I don't want them to go the whole night in a poopy diaper (I do the "smell" test before bed ;) ) Nighttime they hardly wake up.
