To call or not to call...

I've been having light contractions for over an hour now (really all day, but consistently right now). I started off with a 12 minute break, a few 7 minute breaks, another 12 and then a few more 7's, etc... It was 7 in an hour but I really don't want to call because I know that I'm dehydrated.

I'm hoping they slow down, I really don't want to call... we finally found a minivan in our price range (under our max actually) and are meeting a mobile mechanic to look at it tomorrow morning. We've been looking for over a month.

It doesn't hurt to call.. it might be nothing, but it might be something. And in the meantime put your feet up and get some water in you!

I agree it cant hurt to call. You can always let them know you think you are dehydrated and maybe they can give you some tips to making them stop. like pp said in the mean time down the water and get your feet up.

I called when I hit 14 in 2 hours and couldn't stomach to drink any more water. I had about 30 ounces in an hour and my belly is full. Grr, I really don't want to go in... I feel like if I go to sleep then I'll sleep through them and they'll spread out again.

Ugh, she was stupid. She told me that she thought the threshold was 6-8 in an hour so even though I was at 7 I was on the line. I told her I was having twins and she said something along the lines of "well, then we need to be more careful with you. Why don't you wait another hour and try to drink more?"

At that point the water was making me nauseous and I knew I couldn't stomach any more. I was so annoyed with that and DH insisting that he would have to come with me and we'd have to call someone to come over (it was 11pm at that point, I was ready for bed)that I just went to bed. Not sure it was the right choice, water is still making me nauseous and I'm still having consistent contractions every 10-15 minutes with the occasional shorter or longer interval thrown in. This time it was all day though.

I hope everyting is ok. Th rule is if you have 6 contractions per hour consistantly for 2 or more hours you go in. The fact that you are also nauseated makes me wonder do.

Cold water goes down easier than the lukewarm stuff from the tap. It might have been the temperature and flavor of tap water. I don't know, I drank more today and it's definitely back to the 4-5 an hour I had been having so that's good.

I think if it happens again I'm going to just listen to the 6 an hour rule and go in without calling. It could be the same clueless person...

Glad its better today. Yes def go in next time it happens, hopefully it wont though. Yes unfortunatly some of the nurses are clueless. I was on a steroid for ome of my pregnancy with the twins and had to monitor my blood sugar because it elevates it. I called L&D one day because my sugar level was up at a 12, and the babies werent moving. She told me to drink water and relax. Apperently she told the head nurse because I got a call 20 mins later telling me to get my but into L&D

Yikes! If I couldn't get the babies moving I would go in without calling. I'm completely and totally paranoid about that, my mother had a 36 week stillbirth that there was no explanation for. Of course, later in life, there was an explanation that we discovered when she found out some health issues that had been completely overlooked... but it still freaks me out.
