I was admitted on hospital bedrest when I was 25 weeks 1 day preggo. I was having some cramping and I was super uncomfortable...I just didn't feel right- So I drove myself to L&D. When I got there I had a positive FFN test and I was contracting every 2-3 minutes, and was 2cm dilated-I was in PTL. They admitted me over night and they were going to send me home the next day on home bedrest. The next morning I saw the peri and they did a BPP and it found that my membranes were funneled, this bought me a ticket to hospital bedrest without Bathroom privaleges, Yup Bedpan and all!! Unfortunately it was to late for a cerclage. They transferred me to a hospital with a level 3 nicu by ambulance. I was able to hold out for 3 weeks exactly and delivered at 28 weeks 1 day. It was quite an ordeal, but making it to 28 weeks was huge for the viability of my girls. They are now home after 10 long, agonizing weeks in the NICU and they are happy and healthy.

I was hospitalized over Christmas and New Years three years ago at 24 weeks due to a shortened cervix (2.8cm) and excessive contractions. They discovered my shortened cerix at a routine u/s earlier in the day, and I was put on immediate home bedrest. I started noticing tons of contractions that night and was told to go immediately to L&D. Because my doc was concerned about the contractions and shortening, she kept me at the hospital for a week of monitoring. I was sent home, but readmitted at 28 weeks due to a positive fFN test (my cervix was measuring 1.8cm at that point, and I was dilating). I was sent home again at 32 weeks with a home health care nurse (who visited to do NSTs twice a week and to give shots) and home-uterine monitoring.

The best part, I delivered two totally healthy babies at 34w4d, and we had no NICU time.

I have been put on bedrest due to PTL. I have been on bedrest since 17 weeks pregnant. Mostly modified bed rest, then it has been strict bed rest since the PTL scare almost 2 weeks ago now. I have MOMO twins, in my belly, and since they are at a heightened risk, they will monitor me in the hospital starting in one month - at 26 weeks pregnant. I am getting sick of bed rest, but I know the more calories I burn the less calories the baby gets...so in the long run for me it is a prevenative method.

I've been on bedrest since 23 wks due to PTL - dilation, constant contractions, shortened cervical length. I'm thrilled to have made it to 33 wks so far. I get to come off of the Procardia next week but I'm really hoping to get closer to 36wks :)

I was on modified bedrest around 22 weeks. I developed a blood clot in my leg a couple of weeks earlier and was in hospital for a few days. I tried to work through it, but with the pain and blood thinners my doctor took me out. Then I developed PTL at 27 weeks and 5 days with dilation to 1-2 centimeters so was put on full bedrest at that time.

I was hospitalized at 16w4d due to an extremely short cervix. I had no symptoms - no cramping, bleeding, pain, nada. My peri did a routine measurement at my appointment, found my cervix length gone, and wheeled me up to L&D - stat. I had an emergency cerclage the next day and spent the rest of my pregnancy on bedrest, 4+ weeks of that on hospital bedrest because my cervix shortened again due to contractions.

so to those of you with a shortened cervix..the only way to check that is through u/s? and you dont necessarily have to have other symptoms. my new doc better check my cervix!

At 31 weeks I lost my mucus plug and went to l&d for cramping-they admited me for two days for preterm labor and a positive ffn test-I was contracting and was dilated to a 3. I was sent home on bedrest and terbutaline-it is still working:)

Keep in mind that many women don't end up on bedrest. The more I read on the "bad things" that can happen in a twin pregnancy - the more worried I became. I stopped reading a certain twin book because it was making me so scared.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and spent all day shopping yesterday. I've had an easy pregnancy up to this point. Now, I know this can change at any moment. You just have to trust your doctors and listen to your own body.

i guess if i had faith in the docs, or i felt they were a lil more attentive. gosh i hope the new doc is reassuring and kind and goes over every detail. i agree reading all the bad stuff makes for a very paranoid person :)

I was put on bedrest at 28 weeks. At a regular OB appointment they noticed I was 1 cm dialated and was contracting. Since then, I have been on bedrest at home, with a home contraction monitor, taking brethine every four hours around the clock. They are hoping I make it to 37 weeks!

I was put on bedrest at 25 weeks for a shortened cervix. it was down to .9 cm when my peri discovered it.
I had no symptoms at all. I was just given the green light yesterday to sit up and begin to move around,
and at this point, they will not stop labor. I feel so lucky they discovered the problem when they did.

Oh, and my peri thought that 25 weeks was too late to put in a cerclage so I have no idea how I have made it
    this far.

I was put on bed rest on Halloween at 15 weeks. Initially it was due to mild spotting but then over the next week I had two incidents of heavy bleeding landing me in L&D twice. At that point it was seen that Baby A's placenta was fully covering my cervix and due to the bleeding was put on modified bed rest. Bed rest has worked. I have not had any bleeding for the past 6 weeks and the placenta has partially moved (partial placenta previa). At this point I am not allowed to work or be on my feet for more then 10 mins at a time, but can sit up and do some stuff with the kids at home and even go out to an occassional meal or movie as long as I sit while out. On Christmas Eve I was having some contractions but they have stopped and my peri is not too concerned. Hopefully these babies will stay in another 11-12 weeks!!!

I was just put on bedrest at 33w6d for borderline hypertension and trace of protein in my urine (signs of possible pre-eclampsia). I just spent 3 nights at the hospital, where all bloodwork and further urine testing came back negative. MY BP has dropped a bit, as well. So they let me come home, but I am on bedrest here as well, probably until the babies come (we are aiming for the 36 week mark!).

The weird thing is that my babies seem to be doing perfectly and I have no signs of contracting or PTL - they are happy to stay inside and keep growing! It's just a bummer when it's my body that is falling apart and forcing them out early! :(

At 23 weeks I was having belly tightenings (not knowing it was BH) I went to L & D where they discovered I was dialated 1cm and funneling down to 1.8 cm.
I also had a positive FFn test. I was immediatly placed on hospital bedrest, with bathroom privilages only. The docs were not optimistic I would make it to 28 weeks. At the hospital I was near the NICU ward, just in case, and had twice daily NST and given the steroroid shots. After 3 weeks in the hospital, my cervix had closed and stopped funneling so I was sent home on bedrest with bathroom privilages. Now I am 38 weeks with an induction set for this Wed. I am a strong believer in bedrest. It is tough physically, mentally and emotionally but I feel it helped me keep my boys cooking.

I am not there yet, but my OB has already informed me that I will have to quit work and be on bedrest at 24 weeks. I don't know what kind of bedrest yet, but I hope it's not too restricted. So far things have been great and I hope it stays that way. He may be concerned since this is pg #4 (#3 this far along... I had a m/c in March of 07) and could be concerned about my uterus and cervix since I am not as "young" as I use to be? I am 34 after all. I have been having babies off and on since I was 19! Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not... I'll let you know if I find anything else out~
