Hello there Ladies! First I would like to congrat your success with IVF adventures. I just found this web site that has helped me put my mind at ease and have educated me in many other topics that I had not even thought about regarding twins. I only wish that I would have found it earlier.lol
I had my IVF done in Matamoros,Mx. border town to Brownsville,TX.. So I only visited my RE for the procedure and according to him I am due on the 10/14/08. According to my OBGYN and the IVF calculator I am due on the 10/11. Now I have been going to the Peri Specialist since I was 18 weeks they have given me a due date of the 10/04 and it has remained that for the last four visits to them. So they have moved my due date to the 4th. my OBGYN has scheduled my C-sect for the 26th of Sept. do you all think this is okay?

    Thank You

    CoriM

I think most doctors don't really like twins to go to 40wks. My due date was 12/31, but my regular OB said he'd deliver at 12/10. The peri I was seeing went along with this.
There was also some questions about my due date when I first switched to my regular OB from my RE. (They had it off by 3 days too.)

But my two were born 12/7 anyway, so none of that even mattered!

Congrats to you and good luck! I've found this site to be amazingly helpful and hope you do to.

It's odd you have so many conflicting "due dates." Are any of them based on the 38-week twin full term or are they all meant to be 40-week due dates? Since you did IVF then you know the exact date of conception (your retrieval date), unless you did FET. If you did FET then you can easily calculate the conception date through knowing the age of the embryo at the transfer. Either way, many due date calculators allow you to put in the conception date rather than use last menstrual period to figure out the 40-week mark.

As was mentioned by Gina, a lot of doctors get concerned about twins gestating past 38 weeks, but it really depends on the person and the individual situation. Since they are planning a c-section for you, then there must be a reason they want to do it on 9/26 and perhaps they don't want to risk you going into full labor. How many weeks will you be on the 26th? Since you're seeing a Peri, I assume that you're having regular ultrasounds so they are probably keeping good track of measurements and weights.

Well Thanks Gina and Lizzie for responding. I guess I did not think of it that way.If I last to the scheduled c-section that I will be a couple of days shy from being 37 weeks going with my ER date. So if you I think about it that way then it is okay, then. Yes, I have been going to the Peri and they have been measuring the babies they are as follow:
    Baby A weighs 4lbs.8oz / two weeks prior 3lbs.10oz.
Baby B weighs 5lbs.3oz./ two weeks prior 4lbs.03oz.
They were growing about the same up to a month ago as you can see. Did any of you have this experience?
    Well Thanks,
    CoriM

I delivered via c-section at 37 weeks. Also IVF! We had many due dates estimated too. i think with IVF that's the norm! OB didn't want to schedule CS until after 37 week mark, but we ended up going before the scheduled day anyway! Good luck & welcomt to TS!!

They've never changed my due date. They always use my retrieval date to base it on, and don't go by baby sizes. And yes, my babies are starting to also vary slightly in weight as of last week's u/s, where they've pretty much been the same until that point. However, they had sac size differences in the beginning. Your babes weigh more than mine and we are pretty close in gestation - my 40-week due date is October 10th and my ER was January 18th. My last u/s was Friday (8/15 - 32 weeks) and twin-a weighed 3 pounds 11 ounces and twin-b weighed 3 pounds 9 ounces - so not much difference but more than in the past (and I know it's an estimate).

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. So have you started going to the peri bi-weekly now? How much weight have you gained? As for our due dates are almost the same. Have you scheduled a c-section yet? Oh, and also have you been have more then usual BH. Because i have my days where I feel like I am getting gosh,12-15 a day. DR. says to not worry about it if they do not last longer then 40 seconds.

    Well Congrats to you too,

It's ok, but not great, IMO. If Oct 14th is your real due date based on IVF (in which they know how old the embroys are), then Sept 26th would be 37 weeks 3 days.

Here are my questions: Why are they scheduling a section so early? Is there a possibility you could deliver vaginally? I don't think I'd agree to an induction before 39 weeks (assuming the babies are doing well).

I delivered at 39w3d and the babies were almost 7 lbs each, If I had delivered 2 weeks before they might have been under 6lbs with less chance they'd latch on right away etc. I'm sure it will be fine, but if you don't mind holding out a little longer, I'd consider it.

I've been seen every other week pretty much since the beginning. I see an OB every 4 weeks and have an u/s in Perinatology every 4 weeks, staggered so it works out for 1 appointment every 2 weeks. My u/s is not done by a peri, but is reviewed by a peri.

I do have more than the normal amount of BH contractions. 15/day sounds mild to me. I get about 3-5 an hour, lately closer to the 5/hour. I had one yesterday last over 5 minutes! Most of mine average 1-2 minutes. Hmm, I'm having one right now.

I'm not sure I'll be having a c-section. This is my first pregnancy. I'm hoping twin-a will go vertex so I can try to deliver vaginally. Contraction over... short one at 1 minute 15 seconds (using http://contractionmaster.com/ to time them). My doctor isn't scheduling induction, either. She's going to wait and see how things progress. I like the wait and see approach. It works for me. :)

Wow, 39w3d at 7lbs....OMG big babies! The reason for c-sect because I had one 2.5 yrs ago with my son Eli and right now they are still both breach. Being that I had ER done on the 19th of Jan. So according to the ivf calulator it puts me due as the same as my OBGYN. But because the PERI has me measuring to be due Oct. 4th she said we needed to schedule the c-sect and that we could atleast go two weeks before. So that put at Sept. 26th. Yesterday my Dr. called and that I had to take the 3 hr test because my sugar came back high. So I did that today hopefully it will come back normal. Being that I do know when I conceived via IVF which ER was indeed on the 1/19 and it was a 3 day transfer. Then you are right I need to stay as close as to the 11th/14th. I have an appointment tomm. So I will ask her to move set it closer to those dates. Thanks for the input!!!!

At least I know now that I am not alone in having a lot of BH. Luckily for me I have only had 1-2 today, but I did drink a lot of water. They say not drinking enough of water plays a big role in BH. Have they commented any change on your cervix regarding the BH?

The PERI did say that my had shortened and funneled a little but that she would really like me to make it another 3 weeks at least.
When is your next appointment with the PERI?

    Thanks,

Look those curleys on both of your precious boys! Do you mind me asking how much they weighed? Also why did you all do C-sect?

    Thanks,

I drink a lot of water and still have a ton. I've been diagnosed with what they call an "irritable uterus," which is why I get so many. I've spent one night in L&D for it, but that's all.

So far so good as far as cervical changes. The contractions have softened my cervix, but have not caused any shortening, funelling, or dilation.

My next appointment is a week from tomorrow (the 29th) and is with my OB. My next appointment in Peri is on September 16th, if I make it that far. I also hope to make it at least another 3 weeks. I think I stand a good chance at that. I'm resting a lot, which helps keep the contractions below threshold and also keeps the pressure off my cervix. I'm not allowed to walk more than 1/2 mile per day, and my car is broken down, so I'm pretty much grounded. That really helps to force rest.

Well I guess your car breaking down at this time is a good thing for resting sake! I am trying to get everything done before I run out of time. I think I finally finished my older boys school shopping today. So have you already bought all your baby stuff that you will need? What carseat/carriers did you decide on?

We bought the Evenflo Discovery - it was the lightest weight and most ergonomic, basically, the easiest one for me to carry. We have cribs but we don't have them in the nursery, yet. We're going to paint the nursery this weekend (I hope).

And yes, the car breaking down seems to be a blessing in disguise, but now we are trying to figure out whether we will fix it (fix will cost more than the car is worth) or buy a different car. I'll need a car for when the babes are here, unless we put the car seats in dh's car and we continue to share it (I take him to work on days when I have appointments, then pick him up at the end of the day - but wear myself out during those days doing appointments and errands).

How are you feeling in these remaining weeks? How are your ribs?

My girls are IVF miracles - we delivered at 38 weeks 4 days by scheduled c-section. baby A was 6.9 pounds and her sister was 6.8. My dr would not have taken them until 39 weeks but baby A had low fluid and it was just time!
