Me again! Last question about walking...I promise :) (maybe)

My daughter walks on her tipyytoes. The OT didn't say much about at this point, but that we need to watch this. She didn't sound concerned, but I came home and googled and saw lots of yucky info about this.

So....did anyone have a child that started "practice" walking on their tippytoes?? She doesn't do it all the time, but I am noticing she does it. So...did your child walk on their toes and then go on to walk perfectly fine?

    Thanks!!

Both my DD and DS still do this from time to time. They walk perfectly fine though...I think it is because they have realized when they are on their tippy toes they can reach more. But if you are concerned, I would definitely keep monitoring the situation and contact either your pedi or OT.

Both my boys will do this but not as their regular walking style. I think for them, it's just something different and they are having fun doing it.

Stay.Away.From.Google!! It will drive you crazy!! Trust me, I know from experience!

Kaylyn used to walk on her tip toes a lot, but now she only does it in dance class or when she is pretending to be a ballerina. I asked about it on here, and talked to my pedi about it and everyone told me not to worry, that it was normal.

I think all kids before they walk they stand on their tippy toes. I think they must do it to strengthen their muscles. So EVERY kid does it. Later when they walk I think they often do it because it is a challenge after they have mastered walking. Something new. My daughter walk, ran and now so often will tip toe walk.

My DS did it for quite awhile in the beginning, and now that he can walk really well he also does it.

Thanks for all the responses! You know what.....I paid closer attention to this and she does it because I am tall and when I walk with her I am pulling her up!! So I crouch down and she is walking flat on her feet. The OT got me all worked up and then dr. google added to my paranoia.

Jacob loved to do that when he was first learning to walk. He outgrew it once he learned he could go faster walking normally!
