Tips for modified bed rest or scheduled resting

Discussion in 'Pregnancy Help' started by Littlebitofeverythingmama, Dec 3, 2012.

I have not been put on bed rest. I usually go past my due date during pregnancy, but I have never been pregnant with twins before. It is something my doctor warned me about at 9 weeks and I'd like to prevent a full blown bedrest or hospital bedrest if at all possible. I have many children so it makes things a big more complex. I do have big kids, but I don't want to exasperate them. I also have help if I need to call on it. My husband works from home a couple of times a week and possibly full time in the new year. So... I really do have it easy compared to most. But I would really like to make the transition as gentle on everyone as possible. So... I'm looking for tips.

What worked well for you? Anything in particular that you did or didn't do that really helped you stay off your feet? Things you wish you would have done differently if you'd known?

Currently I'm thinking we need a reliable schedule and/or routine. My daughter has volunteered to make all meals, but that is a big job for a 13 year old who also has her school work to do. So I'm thinking some freezer meals or just really easy meals that are still healthy. We have a large family, so that makes the freezer meal thing a bit more complicated, but we do have a huge freezer. Even when will fill it in January after butchering our steer we should have a lot of room (at least we did last time).

Maybe things I should make sure are ready now so there is just much less nesting to do when the babies are close to coming.

Really, any and all tips and advice are appreciated!!!

I don't have any other children so I didn't have that to deal with but my husband was a huge help and he took the duties on. Every morning he'd set me a cooler with drinks and snacks in the bedroom, he always cooked dinner, Sid laundry, cleaned. I pushed the boundaries a bit and once a week he'd pick me up and we'd go to lunch with a bunch of his co-workers. He would go to the library and get books for me and ap( bunch of friends loaned me their books too. I also had the pool he got me that I'd float in for about an hour a day, just to get out of the house.

I was on modified bedrest at home so I could take a quick shower and stand for small amounts of time. If you have a feeling you will be on bedrest I would start freezing meals now.
