Hello everyone. I am a new member and this is my first time posting. I was so happy to find this site as I have found lots of great, helpful information. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to successfully/comfortably bottle feed two babies at once? Thanks ahead for any replies!

I sat them in their bouncer chairs in front of me... and sometimes I would prop a bottle while I burped the other.

    This is what I do.

    Welcome!

I sat in the middle of the couch with the babies propped in boppies on each side of me (open end of boppy and their feet facing me). That way I could prop my elbows on the boppies and feed them, then I'd break halfway and burp each of them.

I tried the sitting on the floor feeding them in bouncy seat method, but that always made my back hurt and my arms got tired.

I sit them in their infant to toddler rockers and use bottle bundles. I pump while they eat their bottles.

    Hi Nikki! :sign0016: to TS!

When my twins were that young, I would get everything ready, and put a bed pillow in my lap, lay them head to head, with their feet off of the pillow(hope this makes sense) and feed them that way. It worked well, I was holding both of them and they could both look at my face, which is important with infants.

At that age I used the bouncy seats, the swings, boppy pillows or their car seats and either sat between them or propped it with a blanket. I know they say NEVER do that but they probably never had twins. As long as you stay by them they will be fine. Often, I would alternate and prop one with a bottle and cuddle and feed the other so I could get that one on one cuddle time with them. Now that I think about it, it would have been easier if I had started one on a bottle first so that by the time they drank 2 ounces I could burp them and then start the other with their bottle and keep rotating them. Dang it! I hate when I figure out solutions AFTER the fact. :fool: GRRRRR

BTW, Welcome to FY and congrats on your twins! You will find a really amazing group of gals here (especially those hard workin' moderators :D )

I totally agree with Babies4Susan. The only difference is . . . I would put my best/easiest eater in the boppy on my right side and prop his bottle with a towel. I would hold the other baby and feed her. Good luck to you.

We use the newborn boppy lounger - works a treat.[post="http://shopboppy.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=23"]Boppy[/post]

I do the boppies on each side of the couch and me in the middle. Sitting on the floor and 2 bouncies (but something to support my back ... couch or wall) and I started using Podee at 3 weeks (mainly for my girl since my boy has rice cereal in his bottle due to reflux so that doesn't work). My babies have been doing fine with Podee early on, but they were very large for twins and full term so that may have helped ... they still love to eat.

  11. I lay them on the couch/bed and prop up the bottle with blankets. Then I can access one or the other to burp them when necessary. The bouncer seat method works too, just havent gotten around to that one yet.

I lay one in the boppy on the couch (open end & feet pointing towards back of couch), & then one lays on my legs w/head on my knees...I prop my feet up on the coffee table (making an upside down 'v' angle, make sense?). I often have to flip the one in the boppy to burp because she doesn't want to wait for her sister to finish, LOL.

When they were younger and needed burping in the middle, I would prop bottles with a blanket or small pillow so that I could burp one without taking away the other baby's bottle (gosh forbid!). Now that they burp only at the end, we do boppies on the couch or bouncy seats. I have fed them in their car seats, but I found that the car seats are deeper and can be more difficult to get the babies in and out of to burp.

I have them both in a bouncy seat, their bottle propped with a little blanket, I sit in front of them on a chair. I will burp the one who drank the most first, then the other. They actually prefer this method over us holding them. When my husband is home we will each feed one, but Haylee always has to be put back in a bouncy, because she starts to cry and fuss. Once she is back in the bouncy she is fine.

I used to do that too, but they're getting too large, and they're always kicking my stomach (or higher ...).

    Hi!
I've done the Boppy thing, too. I've also found that as they've gotten a bit older and more mobile (I've got one that is always moving and I'm afraid might roll right out of the Boppy!), carseats work, too. When I need to feed them at the same time, I put the car seats on the kitchen table, strap 'em in and sit in front of them. I'll take them out to burp as we go along.

You may want to purchase a twin nursing pillow. I found mine at doubleblessings.com. GOOD LUCK!

I'd love to do this because I used to feed my DD in her bouncy and it was lovely - but how do I feed twins in that way when one loves to eat and the other one has reflux and cries?!?!?!

We used boppy's on the couch or car seats on the floor at 2 months. We continued to use the boppy's, even now at 11 months, they feed themselves on the floor.

I put my boys in their car seats and prop their bottles with blankets. If I do prop the bottles, I make sure to stay close by just in case one of them chokes.

I would sit cross legged on the floor and lay one baby across my legs. I would then lay my other baby on a boppy beside me. That way I could hold both bottles without getting tired. I would sometimes put them both in their carseats and prop the bottles when they needed to burp.

If we did not have two people to do it at once. I would either take their boppies and put them in one crib or on the floor, position them in it and feed them both at once. Or I would feed one that was the hungriest first and then when they were finished take the second one.

    Welcome to TS! :wavey:

I tried a few methods but wasn't really happy with any of them until we switched to the Podee bottles at 2.5 months old. With those bottles, I had my hands free so I could hold one baby and lay the other next to my leg and rub her head/arms/legs etc. with my other hand. It was great to be able to interact with them while they ate rather than using both hands to hold a bottle.
