Tippy Toes

Both of my girls constantly stand on their tippy toes when we stand them up. They can stand flat footed, but they don't prefer it. Neither one of them spends more than 20 min a day in a walker or jumperoo, so I really don't think its that. Is this normal?

 

I don't know if it's normal buuuut, both my boys did it. They still do some times, they even cruise on tippy toes. I hope it's normal!

As far as I know, it's normal as long as they don't spend all day that way. Many kids will also walk on their tippy toes to start. Our ped said it was OK as long as they seemed comfortable standing flat-footed too. If they are still always on tiptoe when they're walking pretty well, that could be a problem and should be checked out.

 

I agree with Alden. My girls would do it sometimes but they also were able to stand flat footed. Even one of my DD's foot was turned in a bit for most of the first year (because her uterus-hog of a sister smushed her!), but now she walks and runs just fine. If you are concerned mention it to your pedi at your next well baby visit.

 

marina stands herself up and stands flat-footed. ivana can't stand herself up yet, and when we stand her up, she ends up on her tippy toes, too

 

Man can only stand assisted and do it on flat feet. HTH .

 

Given how early your girls were born, i would mention it to your pedi, it can be an indication of issues. Again some tippy toes are normal - but it depends on why/how often, etc.
