This is so bizarre and unbeleivable but it totally works!

Put Vicks vapo rub or baby rub on the bottoms of their feet. Seriously. We've got bad coughs and have had rough nights. Last night we put it on before bed there was not a single cough out of either one of them and they both slept right through. This hasn't happened since the coughing started!

We put them in footy PJ's. If they don't have feet on the pj's i'd put cotton socks...

My 3 year old is a coughing freak right now. I'm trying it on him tonight. I'll let you know how it works tomorrow.

I love Vicks as well. Right now I have two bottles beside me on the bedside table  My mom used to do the same when I was little and all the way into my teenage years!! I'd recommend putting on thick socks.

 Wow! I am going to try this tonight! My ds has been coughing for a few days but no other sick symptoms really, so I was wondering what I can do to help! Thanks for the tip, I'll be trying it tonight!

I have to say we tried it with Alyssa last night and she never coughed once but did not sleep real "soundly" because she had a stuffy snotty nose. She was up at 10pm (but I think that was a tummy ache) and then I heard her fussing at 1:30am and she fell back asleep about 10 min later and then she didnt wake up until 5am today. My 3yo has a pretty good cough so we will try it on her tonight and see what the results are.

I did it with my 3 year old last night. He resisted at first, so when he woke up crying and coughing, he crawled in bed with me and I secretly rubbed it into his feet, then carried him back to his bed. He didn't wake up coughing (only to go potty) for the rest of the night!

Runny noses here and coughing too...so you rub it on their feet (skin) and then put socks on them? The only problem is mine can take their socks off...I need to see if we have any footed pj's.

Just to clarify, you don't put it on socks and then put them on right?

Didn't work for me. I tried it yesterday after reading this, and although my twin boy wasn't coughing too badly anyway (I guess it couldn't harm) he did cough, not more but also not less than he used to do.

However, he was extremely pleased and thought it was really funny when I rubbed it on his feet ... tickle, tickle! They sleep in footed sleepers.
