Does anyone have a good suggestion for a timeout spot location? We had been using a dining room chair, but last night my DS was climbing on our kitchen chairs, we warned him and went to give him a timeout for climbing on chairs, by sitting him on a chair DH thought that might be a conflicting message. We have gates at our stairs, so that wouldn't work and didn't know what some other parents had done. Thank you.

We have a small red circle rug from Ikea that we use. They have to stay on the rug. We keep it in the hall closet and sometimes, I just have to take the rug out and lay it down as a visual reminder to behave or else...

We use the bottom step and that has worked well for us. :)

We have short walls in our dining room- centrally located area in our house- they are actually like buffet tables/cabinets. We found it works for us so we can still keep an eye on them and there is more than one spot- so they can both have a time out if they need it and not be next to each other pestering one another!!!

We have gates on our stairs too so I use the side of the staircase, near the bottom, so it's sort of like a small wall. There is a bookshelf right next to it, so it's obvious that it's a spot meant for that reason only.

DS has his spot in the corner by the door, in the corner opposite near the window and G in the middle with her nose buried against the hutch. All 3 have been the "spot" at once and they each know where their own spot is. They are required to stand with their nose in the corner.

Quite a sight from the balcony when all 3 are in trouble.

We use a spot in the hallway, just outside the laundry room. It's away from the living room, and they can sort of see into the kitchen (where the timer is) but can't see what's going on too well.

We use a corner. Any corner. You can always find a corner.

We use a corner. But, since my guys are young we have to stand behind them for the minute to make sure they stay.

We use a wall. They stand facing it with their hands on the wall (kind of like they're being frisked). We chose to do it this way because if we needed to do a timeout in a public location...we could. Thank goodness for Magic Erasers because our "wall" shows all the evidence of the numerous timeouts! :D
