With the time change coming this weekend I am wondering how you will handle it.

I normally don't get my kids up until 7 a.m., but now what they think will be 7 a.m. will really be 6 a.m. Does this mean I should get them at 6 a.m. or wait awhile?

I am not sure how to get them to sleep until the new 7 a.m. When we put them to bed later they don't normally sleep any later. For example, on Halloween we put them to bed at 8:30 p.m. and they woke up at 6:45, EARLIER than normal.

I am not looking forward to this. :-(

I decided to slowly change their time by 15 minutes... they started eating lunch, snack, etc. and even started putting them to bed for the night 15-20min. later than usual. I started this on Sunday and I can now say that we are officially ready for the time change! They've been sleeping in an extra hour in the morning, eating their meals an hour later and are pretty much adjusted and we're only on Friday!!

I should add that waking in the morning an hour later took about three days... when we reached 35-40 minutes going to bed later than the bedtime, we started noticing they slept in. So that is the one thing I didn't stress over. I worked more with pushing the meals and bedtime a little later each time. The rest kinda followed.

So I would recommend to change things for them slowly -15 min., then 20, etc. Worked for us GREAT! And now I always start the change a week before the time actually changes so it's a smooth transition for when the time actually does change!

    Good luck!

Start putting them to bed a little later each night for a few days and you probably won't notice a change. I always thought the same. No sense putting them to bed later because they'd wake up the same time if not earlier but realized if you did it for a few nights in a row it really does work... Gl

I've been doing the gradual thing too, so far it's not working though <_< I'm still hopeful! I figure once they get overtired enough they'll mistakenly sleep late and that'll start us on the right track!

How did everyone's time change go? We went cold turkey and kept the girls up an extra hour or so last night. Today it worked. They woke up their normal 6:45ish (instead of 6:45) I think unfortunately we are heading to a later bedtime anyway so this may work out.

Well we kept everyone up an hour later, and Rylee (my problem child) was still up an hour early this morning, at 8am (aka 9am for her body). She's just going to be a pain this time change!

Cold Turkey...thinking I could fix it afterward...After waking up at 7 all last week, she woke up at 4:50 standard time (so, 5:50 Daylight Savings time). I was not ready to get up myself, so after feeding I handed her off to DH and got another 30 min snooze... Since we had to go out, we kept her up, she napped in the car 8-8:30, had another morning catnap, a mid-afternoon nap, then bed at 6:20 standard (normal would be 6-6:30 DST)...hopefully this means she'll be on normal schedule tomorrow!

We did 1/2 hour yesterday, 1/2 hour today. Today they woke up 1/2 hour earlier than normal, so completely expected. I do hope tomorrow am they add 1/2 an hour to their sleep. :lazy:

Put the kids bed late last night. They woke up at 6:30 (7:30 DST, so not too bad). Nap today was short and they were VERY tired by 7 p.m. I hope they sleep until 7 a.m. tomorrow morning and then I think we'll be back on track.

This is my first year having to deal with the time change (I miss Arizona!), but we just did cold turkey. I was so confused at bed time last night about what time it was supposed to be! They normally sleep from 7pm to 830am, but last night I got 7pm to 630am. They were also up in the night. Who knows how they will adjust. I don't even understand the time change. It was dark at 530pm last night. Sooo confusing

well we completely forgot about the time change which was good for us.... we didn't relize we were up at 6:00 on Sunday. We tried to keep the girls up a little bit later last night but they were DONE. They went to bed at 6:15 our normal time is 7:00 and were up at 6:00 this morning. I'm going to try and keep them up until 6:30 tonight we will see how it goes

I will say that yesterday and today they were exhausted (as were DH and I) and napped an extra 30 mins. They woke up 30 mins later than usual this morning after keeping their regular bedtime. I am shocked at how tired I am with the hour difference. Thought it would be opposite.
