Does anyone have any advice for surviving the time change this weekend? I'm terrified that sleep is going to fall apart again for my guys. Chase has only recently started STTN :( The two things I'm worried about is essentially putting them to bed an hour later than their current bedtime (7pm). We had been putting them to bed at 8pm and Chase was waking up for hours every night. It wasn't until we bumped up bedtime to 7pm that he started STTN. I'm also worried about the morning. Chase wakes up without fail around 6:15am every morning. How do I get him to sleep in later? I don't want him waking up at 5:15am! We have blackout curtains, its still pitch black at 6:15, so I'm not sure what else to do.

    Any tips?

Start tomorrow & make the shift gradually in 15 minute increments. So tomorrow for nap or bedtime, whichever you prefer, put them down 15 minutes later (if meal times are scheduled, bump those 15 minutes later as well). Then the next night go 15 minutes later. And then 15 minutes later again. By day 4, they should be at the right time (so you'll miss the "official" time change by a bit, but I've always found that a gradual shift works better for my girls than cold turkey). GL!

Last year, I was right where you are - totally freaking out about the time change, with kids who only recently started STTN. I tried shifting things in 15 minute increments the few days leading up to it, and that didn't seem to make much difference for us (but I have heard that it worked for others).

For about a week, they woke up unreasonably early, and then they adjusted. The good news is, they kept STTN, they just were up early. This year I'm just going to wing it and see what happens, although they may end up being in bed about 30 min. late Saturday night because of a family event.

You may get lucky. I totally forgot about the time change when my girls were 1.5, so we just did it cold turkey the night of, and they were ok. The first two mornings they woke up early, but then they were back on track. If I had planned it out, I would have done the 15 minute plan.

Now that my kids are a bit older, the time change doesn't bother them any more than it bothers us. We will put them to bed about 1/2 hour later Saturday night and expect them to get up a bit early Sunday. Then Sunday night will be normal. (hope I haven't jinxed myself!)

Me too - I'm going to try winging it this year.

Well 1st of all yay for Chase sleeping through the night, i was totally wondering about that the other day and couldn't wait to ask you at MoM's night.

I agree with some of the other posters, we just cold turkey did the change and yes for a few days they did get up a little earlier but after about a week we were completely adjusted. However I am totally dreading the eary wakeup Sunday, I'm just going to put a pillow over my head and not get them unless they are crying!
